Monitor Defence Ship

The document describes a Warden-class planetary defense monitor ship from the Warhammer 40K universe. It provides stats for the ship, including its size, mass, crew capacity, speed, armor, weapons, and other specifications. While expensive, these slow ships are popular with wealthy planetary governments to defend their systems, though Rogue Traders are more likely to see them as obstacles to evade or overcome. An example loadout is also listed for a fully equipped monitor ship.

From BFG to Rogue Trader: the Monitor

Contributed by Rich

An attempt at translating the planetary defense monitor from BFG into RT terms. Most useful as something the PCs have to evade or defeat during an Endeavor rather than a player-owned ship. Purchasing one is within the realm of possibility for a wealthy dynasty, but transporting it to a useful location is likely to be a chore.

Underpowered Drives: Despite being a frigate, this hull must be equipped with a Class 1 Drive. Disregard the usual restriction on ship type in this case.

System Defense Ship: This hull may not be equipped with Warp Engines or Gellar Fields, and may not travel through the Warp under its own power.

Heavy Shields: Despite being a frigate, this hull may be equipped with a Multiple Void Shield Array. Disregard the usual restriction on ship type in this case.

Warden-class monitors are slow, clumsy, unlovely ships that trade warp capability for the guns and defenses of a cruiser. Although expensive for a system ship, they remain popular with more affluent planetary governments. Rogue Traders are most likely to encounter them as obstacles, although a wealthy dynasty might aquire one to act as well-armed watchdog for their interests in a given system.

And a "fully loaded" example:

Relevant Modifiers: +5 to Command from bridge +5 to Ballistic Skill tests with ship's guns from bridge

I'm disinclined to give the usual complications to mere systemships, largely because many of the results are inappropriate for them. If you really want, I suppose Stoic and Turbulent Past might suit.
