Verb Agreement अब ये जानना है कि िौन िा Subject , singular
होता है और िौन िा Subject, plural होता है ।

is the chapter which teaches us how to

according to the verb.
5. Words end with ..........ness.
ये वो चैप्टर है जो हमें यह सिखाता है कि िै िे िही
अोंग्रेजी िे सजि शब्द िे अोंत में ness लगा हो तो वैिे
Subject िे िाथ िही Verb िा इस्तेमाल िरें और
िारे शब्द singular subject िहे जाते हैं ।
िै िे िही Verb िे िाथ िही Subject िा इस्तेमाल
e.g._ Happiness, Business, Awareness,
िरें ।
Fitness, Kindness, Brightness, etc.
इििा मतलब इि चैप्टर िो िीखने िे सलए हमें दो चीजोों
पर िमाोंड िरनी पड़ेगी । 6. Words end with………hood.
पहला ये िी कितने प्रिार िे Verb होते हैं ? अग्रेजी िे सजि शब्द िे अोंत में hood लगा हो तो वैिे
और दूिरा ये कि कितने प्रिार िे Subject होते हैं ? िारे शब्द singular subject िहे जाते हैं ।
e.g._ Brotherhood, Childhood,
तो आइये जानते हैं –
Neighbourhood, Nationhood,
इि चैप्टर िे अनुिार दो ही तरह िे Verb होते हैं-
Likelihood, Falsehood, Motherhood,
या तो Singular Verb या तो Plural Verb.

अब िवाल ये उठता है कि हम िै िे पहचाने िी िौन –
िौन िा Verb, Singular होता है और िौन-िौन िा 7. Words end with………ism.
Verb, Plural होता है । अोंग्रेजी िे सजि शब्द िे अोंत में ism लगा हो तो वैिे िारे
शब्द singular subject िहे जाते हैं ।

5. will 5. shall Economics, Etc.
6. V5 6. V1 9. Words end with…………ment.
चलो ये तो पता चल गया िी िौन िा Verb , अोंग्रेजी िे सजि शब्द िे अोंत में ment लगा हो तो वैिे
singular है और िौन िा Verb plural है । िारे शब्द singular subject िहे जाते हैं ।

e.g._ Achievement, Excitement, अब आप ये िोोंच रहे होोंगे कि ऐिे कितने िारे words हैं ।
Improvement, Appointment, तो इििे सलए आपिो Questions िा Practice िरना
Disappointment , Etc. होगा । Practice िरते िरते ही आपिो जानिारी कमल
ििती है ।
10. Words end with………..ship.
अोंग्रेजी िे सजि शब्द िे अोंत में ship लगा हो तो वैिे 3. जो Subject जोड़ा बनािर आता है उिे plural
िारे शब्द singular subject िहे जाते हैं । Subject माना जाता है ।
e.g._ Friendship, Leadership, Scholarship, e.g._ Trousers, shoes, socks, gloves, scissors,
Citizenship, Relationship, Etc. earphones, headphones, pants, jeans etc.

दुकनयाों में जो भी ऐिे Noun हैं सजनिो कगना नहीों जा

यहााँ ति तो हमने मोटा –मोती तौर िे Subject और b. I have patriotism. (has, have)
Verb िो पहचानना िीख सलया है । c. There is brotherhood among us.
अब हमें ये िीखना है कि िौन िा Subject िै िा (is, are)
Verb इस्तेमाल िरता है । d. Mathematics is not a hard
subject.(is, are)
आपने singular subject िो तो पहचानना िीख सलया e. Love is pure. (is, are)
अब बात रही Plural Subject िो पहचानने िी ।
2. Plural Subject takes Plural Verb.
1. Plural Subject उिे िहते हैं जो एि िे असधि िा
बोध िराता हो Plural Subject, Plural Verb िा use िरता है ।
2. वैिे तो plural subject िे िाथ s / es लगा रहता है a. The boys are coming. (is, are)
लेकिन िु छ words ऐिे भी होते हैं जो कबना s/es b. My brothers read newspaper. (reads, read)
लगाये हुए भी plural subject िहलाते हैं । c. Two sheep are grazing in the field. (is,
इििा मतलब ये हुआ कि िु छ शब्दोों िे स्पेसलोंग पर नहीों are)
जाना है बल्कि उििे मीकनोंग पर जाना है जैिे :- people, d. 4. People have lots of work.(has, have)
cattle, police इनमें s/es नहीों लगा हुआ किर भी ये e. 5. The mangoes are on the table.(is, are)

Note 5:- सजि Sentence िा पहला word ही
Note 2:- Police, people और Cattle ये तीनोों There िे शुरू हो और उििे बगल में Verb िा कडमाोंड
Plural होते हैं और Plural Verb िा use िरते हैं । हो रहा हो तो िभी भी Verb , There िे अनुिार use
e.g:-
नहीों होगा बल्कि खाली जगह िे बाद जैिा word रहेगा
a) The cattle are grazing in the field.
वैिा ही Verb use होगा ।

b) People consider girls riches of home.
a) There are five monkeys in the tree.

Note 3:- जब Of िे पहले भी एि Subject हो और Note 6:- जब Of िे जुड़ा हुआ दो word हो और Of िे
Of िे बाद भी एि Subject हो तो Verb िामान्यत: Of पहले वाले word िे पहले A/An लगा हुआ हो तो Verb
िे पहले वाले Subject िे कहिाब िे use होगा ।
Singular use होगा । भले ही पुरे वाक्य में Plural िा

Note 9.:- सजि Sentence िे बीच में िोई भी Wh
Note 7:- कििी भी Sentence में अगर िोई ऐिी वाला word कदख जाये या That सलखा हुआ हो और
िच्चाई जो पुरे ब्रह्माण्ड िी िच्चाई हो और उिमें Verb िा उििे तुरोंत बाद verb िा कडमाोंड हो तो Wh / that िे
कडमाोंड हो रहा हो तो सििथ और सििथ V5 या Is ही use ठीि पहले जैिा Subject रहेगा वैिा Verb use होगा ।

Note 8.:- सजि Sentence में इनमें िे िोई भी
word जैिे ‘Each, Every, Either, Neither, या Note 10.:- वैिे तो कििी भी sentence में Subject
ऐिा िोई भी word सजििे अोंत में One/body/thing बनने िा हक़ सििथ Noun या Pronoun िे पाि है
सलखा हुआ हो तो Subject िे रूप में ये िब Singular लेकिन अगर िोई Adjective Subject बनना चाहे तो
िमझे जाते हैं और Singular verb िा use िरते हैं । उिे अपने पहले The लगाना होगा और किर वो Plural
e.g.:- Subject बन जायेगा
a) Each boy was given a gift.(was, were ) e.g.:-
b) Each of the boys was given a gift. ( was, a) The poor are honest. (are / is )
were) b) The beautiful were seen in the party.
c) Every man was scolding the child. (was, (was, were)
were )
Note 11:- िु छ ऐिे words जो sentence में
d) Either girl has done this. (have, has )
Subject िो plural होने िा दावा िरते हैं और चक्कर में
e) Neither girl has done this. (have, has)
गलत Verb िा use हो जाता है ( as well as, along
Exception:- with , with , together with, and not,
अगर Either या Neither अपने िाथ Or या Nor including, excluding, या एि छोटा िा िॉमा ,) तो
लेिर आये तो किर Or या Nor िे बाद जैिा Subject जब भी इनमे िे िोई भी word sentence में कदख जाये
होगा वैिा ही Verb use िरेंगे तो इनिे ठीि पहले जैिा Subject हो वैिा ही Verb use
िरेंगे

Note 14.:- जब कििी Sentence में दो Subject िे

बीच में िोई preposition सलखा हुआ हो तो वो

Singular Subject माना जाता है और Singular
( has, have)
Verb िा use होता है ।
e.g.:-
Note 12.:- िु छ ऐिे Subject जो sentence में a) Village after village has washed away.
Singular और plural दोनोों होने िा दावा िरते हैं ( has, have )
( Jury, Government, Mob, Audience, b) House after house was burnt down by
Crowd, Public etc,) the mob. ( was, were)
तो हम िै िे पता िरे कि ये िब singular होोंगे और
िब Plural होोंगे ?
Note 15.:- जब Sentence िोई कगनती वाली िों ख्या िे
Ans:- अगर ये िब िपने sentence में its लेिर आएों गे
तो Singular िमझे जायेंगे और अगर their लेिर आएों गे शुरू हो और बगल में plural words सलखा हुआ हो
तो Plural िमझे जायेंगे लेकिन A/An भी सलखा हुआ हो तो Subject Singular
e.g.:- माना जायेगा और Verb भी Singular use होगा ।
a) The jury were divided in their opinions.
( was, were) e.g.:- Two miles is a long distance. (is, are)
b) The jury was divided in its opinions. Note:- अभी ति सजतने भी Rules आपने ऊपर पढ़ा है
( was, were)
इतना आपिे 12th िे Exam दे ने िे सलए िािी है इििे
बाहर Questions नहीों पूछे जाते हैं । इिसलए आप इन
Note 13:- जब कििी Sentence में nothing but िारे rules िो बार-बार revise िरते रहें और
कदख जाए तो Subject चाहे भले ही Singular हो या Questions िा Practice िरते रहें ।
Plural हो लेकिन Verb हमेशा Singular ही होगा ।
