GROUP ASSINGMENT 2

1. What is Cloud Computing?

Cloud computing is a model for enabling convenient, on-demand network access to a shared
pool of configurable computing resources (e.g., networks, servers, storage, applications, and
services). These resources can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal
management effort or service provider interaction. It allows users to store and access data
and programs over the internet instead of on a local computer or server. Cloud computing
supports scalable applications, cost-efficient infrastructure, and easier collaboration.

2. Applications of AI in Agriculture, Health, Education, and Business

• Agriculture:

AI technologies are used for precision farming, pest detection, crop disease prediction, soil
monitoring, and weather forecasting. Drones, smart sensors, and AI algorithms can help
optimize irrigation and fertilization schedules, resulting in increased productivity.

• Health:

AI is used in diagnostic systems, robotic surgeries, patient monitoring, and drug discovery.
It enables early detection of diseases, predictive analytics for patient care, and personalized
treatment plans based on patient data.

• Education:

AI is implemented in personalized learning platforms, grading automation, intelligent

tutoring systems, and administrative task management. It helps identify student
performance trends and adapt content to individual learning needs.

• Business:

AI supports customer service through chatbots, demand forecasting, fraud detection,

sentiment analysis, and business process automation. It enhances decision-making by
analyzing large datasets in real-time.

3. Difference Between Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML),

and Deep Learning (DL)

• Artificial Intelligence (AI):

AI is a broader concept that refers to the simulation of human intelligence processes by

machines. It includes reasoning, learning, problem-solving, and perception. AI aims to
create systems capable of performing tasks that would typically require human intelligence.
• Machine Learning (ML):

ML is a subset of AI that focuses on developing algorithms that allow computers to learn

from data and improve their performance over time without being explicitly programmed.
It uses statistical techniques to find patterns and make decisions.

• Deep Learning (DL):

DL is a subset of ML that uses artificial neural networks with multiple layers to model
complex patterns in data. It is particularly effective in tasks like image and speech
recognition, natural language processing, and autonomous systems.

4. IoT Development Tools

• Arduino:

Arduino is an open-source electronics platform based on simple hardware and software. It

is commonly used in IoT projects due to its low cost and ease of programming. Developers
use Arduino boards to control sensors and actuators in smart systems such as automated
lighting and environmental monitoring.

• IBM Watson:

IBM Watson is a cloud-based AI platform that provides cognitive services, machine learning
models, and data analysis tools. In IoT, it is used to process and analyze sensor data, enable
predictive maintenance, and support intelligent decision-making. It allows integration of AI
with IoT to derive meaningful insights from real-time data.

• Raspbian:

Raspbian is a Debian-based operating system optimized for the Raspberry Pi hardware. It is

widely used for building IoT systems because of its support for Python, GPIO access, and
networking capabilities. Developers can use Raspbian to control connected devices, manage
data flow, and host web interfaces.

5. What is Smart Home and Smart City?

• Smart Home:

A smart home refers to a residence equipped with interconnected devices that allow remote
monitoring and control. These devices include smart lights, thermostats, cameras, door
locks, and appliances. They can be controlled via smartphone apps or voice assistants. The
goal is to improve energy efficiency, security, and convenience. IoT technologies play a
central role in enabling smart homes by connecting and automating household devices.
• Smart City:

A smart city uses digital technologies and data-driven solutions to improve the quality of
life for its citizens, enhance urban services, and promote sustainable development. It
integrates IoT devices, sensors, and software to manage traffic, waste, water supply, energy,
and public safety. Examples include smart traffic lights that adapt to traffic flow, real-time
pollution monitoring systems, and intelligent street lighting. The goal is to create a more
livable, efficient, and resilient urban environment.
