Lab Mini project and Group Presentation for Applied Machine Learning – 474CIS (2025, semester II)

Deliverables:
1- A Report including the whole project, which includes both theoretical and practical (codes) of your
work.
2- A PowerPoint file (slides) for the presentation.

 The submission Due Date for both the Report and Slides is 19 April 2025.
 Grades: 5 marks for the report and 5 marks for the slides/presentation.

Presentations:
 The presentations will be conducted during the Lab lecture on 20 and 24 April. (The exact group
presentation schedule/time will be announced on the blackboard)

You will do group presentations:


The presentation & Report should cover the following:
1. Introduction
2. The chosen Model/Algorithm
3. The Method of Training & Testing
4. Description and Preparing the chosen Dataset
5. Extract necessary features.
6. Build a model / Visualisation of the results
7. Illustrate the prediction or classification based on the problem.
8. Evaluate model performance (Like MSE, MAE, RMSE, R-squared OR accuracy, Precision, Recall,
F1 Score etc.)

Instructions:
1. Construct a team of 3 students.
2. Work as a team to gather useful information and present one of the given topics below.
3. It is recommended to use MS PowerPoint to prepare your presentation. Use the attached template to
write the report.
4. There is no restriction on the number of slides, but a time limit must be considered.
5. The presentation must be done during Lab lecture times and no individual presentations will be
accepted in the office; check your group presentation schedule.
6. 1.5 marks for preparing the presentation slides, 1.5 marks for presentation, and 2 marks for viva.
7. The Report should be no less than 6 pages (not including the cover page and the references page).
8. Submit your Report (PDF format) presentation file (PPT format) only via the allotted link on the
Blackboard on or before the due date.
9. The total time of the presentation will be 7 Minutes (Divided between the three students)
10. During viva, all questions should be answered clearly.
11. Note: If two works (submissions) are found to be identical, both groups will get Zero. Write the report in
your own words, don’t copy/paste from the internet and do not use any AI-based writing tools (like
ChatGPT and others).

12. The presentation should:


a. Contain these slides: cover page, Outlines, Introduction, Problem statement, Project objectives,
Conclusion, and References; plus, codes and results for the practical presentation.
b. Provide an overall explanation of the selected field, including, but not limited to definition, purpose,
and objectives.
c. Highlight the benefits and challenges of Machine Learning in the selected field.
d. If applicable: include examples of organizations or use cases using machine learning algorithms and
describe their overall experience.
e. What did you learn from this research?
