(57) Abstract :
This invention presents an integrated solar-coal hybrid power generation system that incorporates Parabolic Trough Collectors (PTCs) into existing coal-fired thermal
power plants. The system aims to reduce coal consumption and associated emissions while maintaining or enhancing power output. PTCs concentrate solar radiation to
heat a Heat Transfer Fluid (HTF), which is then used to replace or supplement high-pressure feed water heaters in the conventional Rankine cycle. The invention
includes a control system that optimizes the integration of solar and coal inputs, allowing for flexible operation in coal-saving or power-boosting modes. By utilizing
existing power plant infrastructure and incorporating renewable energy, this system offers a cost-effective solution for improving the environmental performance of
thermal power plants. Additionally, the invention contributes to global efforts in reducing carbon emissions from the power sector and provides a model for sustainable
retrofitting of coal-based power plants. Through this innovative approach, the invention enhances overall energy efficiency and supports the transition towards cleaner
and more sustainable power generation.
