Roots of a quadratic equation

Sabih Siddiqui 0313-2344852

The roots of a quadratic function are the value(s) of 𝑥𝑥 for which 𝑓𝑓(𝑥𝑥) = 0
The quadratic equation can then be solved by either factorising, completing the square or using the
quadratic formula for 𝑎𝑎𝑥𝑥 2 + 𝑏𝑏𝑏𝑏 + 𝑐𝑐 = 0
−𝑏𝑏 ± √𝑏𝑏 2 − 4𝑎𝑎𝑎𝑎
𝑥𝑥 =
2𝑎𝑎

𝑏𝑏 − 4𝑎𝑎𝑎𝑎 is called the discriminant (𝐷𝐷) and describes the nature of the roots.
