Pray through Gods Story (Week 13)

Focus on God
God is faithful to all his promises for obedience and threats for disobedience. I brought you up from Egypt and brought you into the land that I swore to give to your fathers. I said, I will never break my covenant with you, and you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall break down their altars. But you have not obeyed my voice. What is this you have done? So now I say, I will not drive them out before you, but they shall become thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare to you. As soon as the angel of the Lord spoke these words to all the people of Israel, the people lifted up their voices and wept. And they called the name of that place Bochim. And they sacrificed there to the Lord. (Judges 2:1-5)

Respond from the Heart

Repent of the times we abandoned God and turned to idols. Ask him to help you break down the idols of your heart. They abandoned the Lord and served the Baals and the Ashtaroth. So the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he gave them over to plunderers, who plundered them. And he sold them into the hand of their surrounding enemies, so that they could no longer withstand their enemies. Whenever they marched out, the hand of the Lord was against them for harm, as the Lord had warned, and as the Lord had sworn to them. And they were in terrible distress. (Judges 2:13-15)

Seek First the Kingdom

Pray for the next generation to know The Story of God. Pray for parents to be intentional in telling The Story of God to their children. And all that generation also were gathered to their fathers. And there arose another generation after them who did not know the Lord or the work that he had done for Israel. (Judges 2:10) Pray for our country that God will be recognized as King. Pray for our leaders to submit to the rule of God and influence the people to do the same. In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes. (Judges 17:6; 18:1; 19:1; 21:25)

Present Your Requests

Pray that you will remain loyal and faithful to God and to your family. Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there will I be buried. May the Lord do so to me and more also if anything but death parts me from you. (Ruth 1:16-17)

Close in Celebration
Thank God for our Redeemer and Life-Giver Jesus Christ. So Boaz took Ruth, and she became his wife. And he went in to her, and the Lord gave her conception, and she bore a son. Then the women said to Naomi, Blessed be the Lord, who has not left you this day without a redeemer, and may his name be renowned in Israel! He shall be to you a restorer of life and a nourisher of your old age, for your daughter- in- law who loves you, who is more to you than seven sons, has given birth to him. (Ruth 4:13-15)
