Christian Association of Nigeria CAN) aims and objectives


Christian unity and cooperation at the national level is connected with the activities of CAN>
In 1976 CAN was formed to enable Christian to speak with one voice on social, educational,
political and religious issues.
The primary reasons for the formation of CAN include the following
- serve as a basis of response to the unity of the church
- act as a liaison committee for consultation and common action
- Be a watch -dog of the spiritual and moral welfare of the Nation
- Propagate the gospel
- Insistence on the secular nature of the Nigerian state

Nigeria fellowship of evangelical Students (NIFES), aims and origin

The movement which started on 31 August 1968 is the Nigerian division of the worldwide umbrella
organization of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES), which is the largest
Christian campus movement in the world currently covering 160 evangelical Christian students’
movements in over 160 countries.
NIFES AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
1. To equip Christian Students for evangelism especially among fellow students on campus.
2. To nurture Christian students through personal discipleship thereby enabling them to grow into maturity
in Christ.
3. To mobilize students and create mission awareness amongst Christian students, staff and associates.
4. To prepare and equip Christian students toward meeting the cardinal objectives of NIFES as provided
for in the constitution.
5. To promote and support Christian literary work and Christian library service

Nigerian Association of Biblical Studies (NABIS), aims and origin


NABIS was established in 1846 at the University of Nigeria Nsukka. NABIS is a theological
and academic association. Majority of its members are priest and scholars from tertiary
institutions. They publishes journals and books. NABIS deals with general situations affecting
Christianity and its practice in Nigeria. The associations makes pronouncement on issue of
important to Christianity.
