The document discusses the preference for Intel over AMD due to Intel's superior single-core performance, reliability in professional applications, and improved power management. It explains thermal paste as a crucial substance that facilitates heat transfer from the processor to the heat sink, preventing overheating. Different types of thermal paste are outlined, including metal-based, ceramic-based, silicone-based, and liquid metal paste, along with the consequences of not using thermal paste, such as overheating and potential damage to the computer.

1.
Which brand would you prefer to use between Intel and
AMD? State at least 3 reasons to support your answer. ∙ I would prefer Intel over AMD due to its superior single-core performance. Intel is more suitable for gaming and software that requires high clock speeds(faster Processor). Intel CPUs perform well with professional applications, and are designed to run reliably without crashes or performance issues in operations such as engineering and video editing. Also, Intel's improved power management enables it to run cooler, which means the system becomes more stable. Although AMD is better at multi-core processing meaning that its better for multitasking, Intel is the best for individuals who care about speed, stability, and compatibility.
2. What is thermal paste?
Thermal paste is a special glue that helps your computer stay cool. It’s a thick, gooey substance that you put between the processor (the brain of the computer) and the heat sink (the metal piece that cools the processor). Without it, your computer could overheat and stop working properly.
3.What is its purpose?
The purpose of thermal paste is to help heat move from the processor to the heat sink. Even though the processor and heat sink look flat, they actually have tiny bumps and gaps that you can’t see. These gaps trap air, and air is really bad at moving heat so the thermal paste fills those gaps so heat can flow smoothly and keep your computer cool.
4.How Does It Work?
After the thermal paste is poured onto the heat sink the processor is then placed on top of it,it then spreads out and fills all the tiny spaces between the processor and the heat sink. Thermal Paste is made of materials that are really good at moving heat, so it helps the heat travel from the processor to the heat sink and by moving heat away from the processor it stops your computer from overheating, which can cause it to slow down or even break. 5.Are there different types of thermal paste, if so what are they? Yes, there are different types of thermal paste for different needs: 1. Metal-Based Paste: ○ This is the best at moving heat, but it’s made with tiny bits of metal, so if you spill it, it can cause a short circuit (which is bad for your computer). It’s great for high- performance systems but needs to be applied carefully. 2. Ceramic-Based Paste: ○ This is safe and easy to use because it doesn’t conduct electricity. It’s not as good as metal-based paste, but it’s still great for most computers. 3. Silicone-Based Paste: ○ This is the easiest to use and is good for basic computers. It’s not as good at moving heat as the other types, but it’s cheap and works well for everyday use. 4. Liquid Metal Paste: ○ This is the best at moving heat, but it’s also the most dangerous because it’s made of liquid metal. If you spill it, it can damage your computer. So you should be really careful when applying.
6.What happens if no thermal paste is used?
If you don't have thermal paste, your computer won't be able to stay cool, and this will cause several problems: the processor will overheat because the heat won't be transferred to the heat sink as efficiently, so it will slow down to protect itself (a process called thermal throttling); if it gets really hot, your computer can freeze, crash, or even shut down suddenly; and in the long term, the excess heat can damage the processor or other components, rendering your computer completely useless.
