III. PROCEDURE

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENTS’ ACTIVITY

1. Prayer

"Before we begin, let us put ourselves in the “Lord, s we begin this class, grant us wisdom and
presence of the Lord. May I ask Mr. Gallardo to understanding to grasp the concepts before us.
lead us in a short prayer?" May we listen attentively and learn with
diligence, all to your glory, Amen.”

“Thank you, Rem”

2. Greetings

"Good morning, class! How are you feeling "Good morning, Ma'am!
today?"
“We're feeling good!"
"That’s great! I hope your energy is up for
today’s activity."

3. Checking of Attendance

"Ms. Attendance Officer, kindly help us check “Okay, ma’am”

who’s not around today. Thank you!"

If no one is absent, that’s even better! If someone

is, let’s hope they’re okay and can catch up next
time."

4. Review/recall of past lesson

"Before we move forward, let’s take a quick *students raising hands*

recall. Who can share one table manner we
discussed in our previous class?" “Ma’am”

"Yes, Lara, go ahead!" "One table manner is chewing with your mouth
closed."

"Very good, Lara! That’s correct. Chewing with

your mouth closed shows respect for the people
around you and keeps our meal time clean and
pleasant. Great job remembering that!"

"Table manners like this help show respect and

cleanliness at meal time, so be sure to keep them
in mind as we move on to our new lesson today."

5. Motivation

"Let’s kick things off with a fun challenge to

spark your curiosity! This activity is called
“PLACE ME RIGHT”

Since we have two columns of students, we’ll

form 2 teams—Column 1 is Group 1, and
Column 2 is Group 2."

“Here’s how it works:

Each round, Group 1 and Group 2 will each

send **one representative** to the front. The
two reps will play **‘Bato Bato Pik’** to
decide who goes first.

The winner picks a **mystery item** from

this box and tries to place it correctly on our
big table cutout."

"If the placement is **correct**, their group

earns **1 point** and a **small treat** to
share.

But if it’s **incorrect**, the **other team

gets a chance to steal**—if they place it
correctly, they get the point and the treat!

No hints for now—just use your instincts and

teamwork!

At the end of the game, the team with the

highest score wins an extra reward!

Sounds exciting? Let’s begin!”

“Group 1 and Group 2, please send your first “Yes, exciting!”

representatives. Ready? Bato bato pik—go!”

(Wait for result)

“Great! Please pick an item from the mystery

box… Now, place it on the table where you
think it belongs.”

**(React accordingly)**

* If correct: “Nice job! That’s correct—one

point and a treat for your group!”

* If incorrect: “Not quite! Group 2, it’s your

turn to try and steal the point!”

(Repeat the process until all mystery items

are used.)

“Wow, that was so much fun! Some of you

were spot-on, and others were close—but
don’t worry! Now it’s time to learn the
proper way to set a table, step-by-step. Let’s
dive into our lesson and become table setting
pros!”
IV. PRESENTATION
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENTS’ ACTIVITY
1. Lesson proper

“Our lesson for today is called, BASIC TABLE

SETTING FOR A MEAL”

But before that, may I call on someone to please

read the objectives of today’s lesson?

“Yes, Lovely, go ahead” “ OBJECTIVES:

By the end of the lesson, the learners should be
able to:
a.identify the materials and steps needed for a
basic table setting;
b.arrange a basic table setting properly, following
correct procedures; and
c.show appreciation for neatness and organization
during meal times.”

“Thank you, Lovely”

"Now that we’ve had fun guessing, let’s take a

closer look at how to properly set a table. Let’s
begin with the most basic setup used for everyday
meals at home. This is called a “basic table
setting”. It usually includes just the essentials.”
Can anyone guess what “the main items” are?"

“Yes, Jamaika?” “Plate, utensils, and glass”

"Very good! The basic table setting includes:

1. A dinner plate in the center.

2. A fork on the left of the plate.
3. A spoon and knife on the right — spoon on the
outside, knife beside the plate with the blade
facing in.
4. A drinking glass placed above the tip of the
knife.
5. And finally, the napkin — placed beside or
below the fork, and can also be placed on top of
the plate.

Let’s look at this diagram together. (Shows a

labeled visual or PowerPoint slide.)"

"Let’s go item by item. First, the plate. Why do “Because it’s the main thing we use,” “So
you think it’s placed at the center?" everything is around it,”
"Exactly! It’s the star of the meal, so it goes in the “For safety purposes, ma’am”
middle. Next, the fork goes on the left because
most people use their left hand to hold it while
the right hand cuts or scoops. Now, why do you
think the knife blade faces the plate"

"That’s right — for safety. The sharp edge faces

inward to avoid accidents. And the spoon, which
we often use for rice or soup, is placed on the
outer right side for easy access."

"How about the glass? Where do you think we "Upper right,"

should place it and why?"
“Near the spoon,”

"Correct! We place it above the knife so we can

easily pick it up with our right hand after taking a
bite."

2. Valuing

"Now that we know how to set a table properly,

let’s think beyond just placing plates and utensils. “To be clean,”
Why do you think it’s important to keep our
dining area neat and organized?" “To make eating more enjoyable,”

“To show respect,”

"Very good answers! A properly set table shows

that we care — not just about cleanliness, but
also about the people we eat with. It makes meal
times more respectful and pleasant. Imagine
setting the table nicely for your family — that’s
already an act of love and responsibility. Even a
simple table setting can brighten someone’s day!"

3. Application

"Now it’s your turn! Each row will be a team.

I will give each group a set of tableware
cutouts — plates, spoon, fork, knife, and
glass. Your challenge is to arrange them
correctly on your row’s mini table mat."

"Remember the placements we discussed

earlier. You will be graded using a rubric, so
teamwork and accuracy are important! Your
performance will be graded using this rubric:

Rubric:
Correct placement – 5 pts
Teamwork – 3 pts
Neatness – 2 pts
*Students are actively engaged and
(Hands out the materials. Walk around while participating*
students work.)

4. Generalization
"Plate, fork, knife, spoon, and glass."
"Let’s wrap up today’s lesson. Can anyone
remind us what the basic items are in a simple
table setting?"
"On the left!"
"Great! Where does the fork go?"
"On the right, beside the knife."

"Perfect. And where does the spoon go?"

"Above the knife."
"Right again! And where should we place the
glass?"

"Excellent! So today, we learned that proper table

setting is not just about placing items on a table
— it’s about showing care, practicing cleanliness,
and making meals more enjoyable. You did a
great job today!"
