School: Montessori School Shikarpur Class: ECE-II

Subject: Mathematics Topic: Shapes (Circle & Square)

Duration: 45 minutes

Student Learning Outcomes


At the end of this lesson students will be able to:

 Identify the shape of circle and square.

Required Materials

Two large papers, colorful handouts (forming sheets), board and marker

Introductory Activity: (15 minutes)

 Teacher will sing a poem for twice, on circle and square, and students will repeat it after
teacher.
 Poem1. On circle (I am a circle, I am a circle, watch me bend, watch me bend, I am just a
curved line that will never end, I am circle).
 Poem2. On square (what am I, what am I, I am a shape I am a shape, I have four sides
that are all the same, I am square I am square).
 Note: While singing this song teacher will also draw circle and square on the board.

Activity 1 (15 minutes)

 In this activity teacher will hang two blank poster on the wall. One poster has shape of
circle and other one has shape of square.
 Then teacher will give children some colorful shapes of circle and square.
 Finally, teacher will ask students to paste circle shapes on circular poster and square
shapes on rectangular poster respectively.
 Note: First teacher will do by himself in order to give children a demo of the task.

Activity 2 (15minutes)

 In this activity, once again, students will be given colorful shapes of circle and square to
paste in on their dairy or copy.

Note: Forming Sheets will be colorful to get students interest.
