Normal Operation

Refer to the Technical Information Dossier for further information

Error codes:

E01: Maximum time between pulses

Cause: The motor protection time expires without detecting pulses.
Possible causes of the error:
-The elevator does not move or it moves very slowly.
-The elevator moves but the Control Board does not receive the signal from the pulses
magnetic switch, due to a failure in the detector, in the intermediate connections or in the
Control system itself.
Action: The elevator turns to slow speed once the time is expired without detecting a
pulse. If during the slow phase, a levelling magnet is detected, the elevator stops and the
doors open. If a second time expires at slow speed without detecting a levelling magnet,
the elevator stops and does not open the doors.
Solution: The error is erased by switching to inspection mode and then to normal
operation (the Control Board will execute a re-start operation, going to the lowest floor) or
pressing the RESET on the Control Board (the whole system will re-start).
What to check: IMP magnetic switch. Wire nº 5 in trailing cable 1. IMP input to the Control
Board. Elevator speed.

E02: Slow speed protection

Cause: The slow speed protection time expires. During a movement, after changing to
slow speed, the elevator waits a few seconds until the levelling magnet at the floor level is
detected. If this signal is not received, there may be various reasons:
-The magnetic levelling detector is not functioning properly.
-Error in the Control Board inputs.
Action: When the slow speed protection time expires without detecting the levelling
magnet or if a pulse is detected before levelling, the program turns to re-start stage and
the pending calls are erased. It changes to high speed and continues travelling to the
corresponding pre-final switch where it turns to slow speed. If the failure is in the levelling
magnetic switch, the elevator will not stop at floor level and will open the final limit switch.
Then E04 will appear indicated on the display (E02 will be registered in the error memory).
If the failure is in a specific magnet of a floor, the elevator will stop at an extreme floor
showing E02 and in normal status (ready). When a call is received, the error will disappear
from the display.
Solution: The error is erased with a call.
What to check: NIVS/NIVB magnetic switches. Deceleration slope (parameter E13 in the
inverter). NIVS/NIVB inputs to the Control Board

E03: Safety chain fuse blown

Cause: The fuse at the beginning of the safety chain (F4) is blown. The elevator will
attempt to move but will not because the coils of the contactors cannot be activated (fuse
F4 is located before the safety chain). On the Control Board all the LED of the series will
be off, including the denominated FUS, which will indicate that this is the problem.
If there is a fault in the inverter, the opening of the fault relay RFALLO NC contact will
cause the same fault.
The same if the emergency pushbutton in the rescue operation panel is pressed
Action: The elevator will stop immediately if it is moving or will not move if it is stopped. If
there were calls pending, they will be erased and the “occupied” light will be on in all the
landing button panels. If it is at floor level when it stops, the doors will open.
Solution: Replace the fuse, reset the inverter or release the emergency pushbutton
What to check: If the fuse is blown, some short-circuit in the safeties and doors chain. If
not, check the inverter status or the emergency pushbutton in the rescue operation panel

E04: Safety chain failure

Cause: The Control Board detects no voltage at terminal SFC of the CH1 connector
because one of the contacts of the shaft safety chain is open, or at terminal SSC of the
CC1 connector because one of the contacts of the car safety chain car is open.
Action: The elevator will stop immediately if it was in movement, because the VVVF relays
and the contactors are deactivated and the inverter is disabled, or will not move if it was
stopped. If there were calls pending, these are erased and the “occupied” light will be on
in all the landing button panels. If the elevator is at floor level the doors will open.
Solution: After the safety chain is closed again, a re-start operation will be performed.
What to check: The contacts of the Car and Shaft safety chains

E05: Doors failure (presence contact of semi-automatic doors)

Cause: The presence contacts chain of the semi -automatic doors is open during a time
greater than that determined by a program parameter.
Action: The “occupied” light will be on in all the landing button panels and the error is
shown in the displays. In collective operation, it erases all the memorized calls in the car
and the shaft.
Solution: Close the doors.
What to check: The presence contacts of the swing doors

E06: Thermal error

Cause: The temperature gauge of the motor goes off. In this moment, it is detected by
Control through the auxiliary input KL/TS of the CSM connector.
Action: The elevator will react in the following manner:
If the elevator is stopped during normal operation, it shows the error and erases all the
pending calls, the occupied light is on in all floors and the elevator remains stopped until
the problem is solved.

________________________________________________________________________________

If the elevator is in movement during normal operation, the elevator will stop at the next
floor, will erase all pending calls, the occupied light will be on in all floors and will show
the error until the problem is solved.
The elevator will not function even in inspection mode
Solution: The cause of the thermal error should be solved. Then, the system re-starts.
What to check: The operation of the motor

E07: Doors locking failure in motion

Cause: A voltage failure is detected in the SCC terminal of the CC1 connector when the
elevator is in movement. This failure may be due to a fault in the landing doors locking
(voltage failure in both SCE and SCC) or in the car doors locking (voltage failure only in
SCC). The safety chain LED of the Control Board will indicate which of these errors is
occurring.
Action: For this error there are 2 possibilities:
Short failure. The duration of the voltage failure in SCC is less than a program parameter.
Long failure. The duration of the voltage failure in SCC is greater than a program
parameter.
In the case of a short failure, normal functioning continues and when there are no
pending calls the elevator goes to the floor where the error occurred and indicates the
error. The error is erased with a call.
In the case of a long failure, the elevator stops, the pending calls are erased the occupied
light is on and the error is indicated. If it is at a floor level, the doors will open. In this
case the error is permanent and the elevator will remain out of service.
Solution: In the case of a short failure, the elevator will remain functioning and admit new
calls. The indication of an error will disappear with the next call. In the case of a long
failure, the elevator will have a permanent error. If the closing of the series is detected the
elevator will re-start.
What to check: The landing and car doors locking contacts

E08: Contactors failure

Cause: The Control checks the status of voltage in CPEG1 and CPEG2 inputs, which
correspond to the terminals 13 and 1 of the P1 connector respectively. These inputs come
from the VVVF relays NC contacts. When the lift stops or while the elevator is stopped if
any of the contacts is not closed (Leds CPEG1 and CPEG2 ON) E08 will occur.
For the VVVF systems, IOAUX2 input must be on when the lift stops (Led IOAUX2 will turn
on). This input comes from the KG1 and KG2 contactors NC contacts. If not, E08 will be
displayed.
Action: The elevator will stop, erase all the pending calls, the occupied light will be on and
the error will be indicated on the display.
Solution: When voltage is detected again in CPEG1 and CPEG2, the elevator will re-start.
What to check: The VVVF Relays and the KG1 and KG2 contactors

E09: Brake microswitches fault

To meet the Addendum 3 specifications in gearless lifts, it is sufficient that the control of
the brake operation is made by two independent microswitches; each one must be
checked separately. When starting both must open and must close when stopping.
For this purpose LLBC (CC1 connector in the Control Board) and LLBH (CH1 connector in
the Control Board) inputs (with their corresponding LEDs) will be used.
Cause: The brake status is checked in normal operation, in restart operation, in inspection
mode and in emergency operation. If the brake inputs sequence is not correct (LLBC and
LLBH LEDs will turn off when the lift starts and turn on when the lift stops), E09 will
appear.
Solution: This E09 is managed in a special way: it is stored in the microcontroller memory
and cannot be cleared by turning off the power or resetting the controller.
The way to clear the fault is by entering inspection mode (LLBC and LLBH inputs must be
on). Another way to clear the fault is by generating a call to the 9th stop in the Control
Board (switches 1 and 4 set to ON and push LLAMADAS SALA). After this a reset shall be
made
If the fault happens when the lift is at one floor level, it will open the doors and close
them one minute after. Any reopening signal will make the doors open and close again
one minute after.
What to check: The Brake microswitches. The enabling of the inverter: KG1 and KG2
auxiliary contacts, VVVF Relays, Control Board operation relays

Run test:
To check the function of the brake, the Control Board has two LEDs (LLBC and SZS/LLBH)
that show the status of the brake microswitches. When the lift is stopped, both LEDs
should remain on. At the time of starting a movement both LEDs will turn off indicating
that the brake is open. The status of the brake microswitches is checked at the beginning
and end of the movement.
The E09 can be forced in two different ways:
- While the lift is moving, releasing one of the wires from LLBC or LLBH. When the lift
stops, only one of the LEDs LLBC or LLBH will turn on. After a small delay, E09 will appear
- When the lift is stopped, bridging LLBC or LLBH to +24V. When the lift starts, only one
of the LEDs will turn off (the one that is not bridged). After a small delay, E09 will appear

E10: Reopening failure

Cause: This is caused by a number of consecutive re-openings above the limit fixed by a
program parameter.
Action: All pending calls are erased and the error is indicated, with the doors open.
Solution: The elevator continues in normal functioning waiting for new calls. A new call
erases the error.
What to check: The re-opening signals (photocell, light curtain, doors safety edge,
pushbutton).

E11: Pre-final switches failure

Cause:
-Error in the pre-final switches when the elevator is stopped.
If AFS is open and according to Control it is not at the top floor.
If AFS is closed and according to Control it is at the top floor.
If AFI is open and according to Control it is not at the bottom floor.
If AFI is open and according to Control it is not at the bottom floor.
-Error in the pre-final switch when the elevator is in movement.
When ascending or descending in high speed an unexpected opening of the AFS or AFI
occurs respectively, the speed will change to slow and it will stop at the next levelling
magnet.
Action: If the error is due to AFS, any pending call is erased and the system is re-started
to the bottom floor. A test is made to check that AFS is open. In this case (incorrect
status) the “occupied” light is on in all landing call button panels and the error is indicated.
If AFS is closed (correct status), the elevator will work normally without any indication of
an error.
If the error is due to AFI, any pending call is erased and the system will re-start at the top
floor. A test is made to check that AFI is open. In this case (incorrect status) the
“occupied” light is on in all landing call button panels and an error is indicated. If AFI is
closed (correct status), the system will re-initiate at the bottom floor and once there the
elevator will work normally without any indication of an error.
What to check: Check the functioning of the pre-final switches and ensure that each pre-
final switch opens after detecting the second pulse (IMP magnetic switch) to change the
speed at the extreme floors.

E12: Doors locking failure when stopped

Cause: The number of door closing attempts to close the doors locking chain is greater
than that established by a program parameter.
Action: The pending calls are erased and the error is indicated. The elevator remains in
normal functioning with the doors open, admitting new calls. The error is erased will a
new call.
What to check: The doors locking contacts.

E13: Long time reopening failure

Cause: When the doors are re-opened a temporization is initiated after which door closing
is re-attempted. If at this moment the re-opening signal continues active, another
temporization is initiated. If after this time the re-opening continues active an error
occurs.
Action: The pending calls are erased, but the elevator continues working normally and
accepts new calls. The error is erased with a new call.
What to check: The re-opening signals (photocell, light curtain, doors safety edge,
pushbutton).

E14: Overload failure

Cause: An overload signal is detected in the car Slave. Only if the elevator is stopped.
Action: The pending calls are erased the “occupied” light is on in all landing call button
panels and the error is indicated. The elevator works in inspection mode.
Solution: If the overload signal disappears, the elevator turns to normal status.

E15: Presence contacts chain failure in motion

Cause: This error only occurs for semi-automatic swing doors. Control detects a voltage
failure at the SSP input in CH1 connector (due to an open door on a floor or a contact
failure) while the lift is moving.
Action: A voltage failure can be detected for a short time (determined by a program
parameter) or a longer time. If the failure is short, the elevator continues to function
normally. If the failure is long, the elevator stops immediately with the opening of the
safety chain. Any pending calls are erased and the “occupied” light is on in all landing call
button panels. If the elevator is at floor level the car doors will open. On the Control Board
the LED will be off from the SP one.
What to check: The presence contacts of the swing doors

Non-failure standard messages

SOC: The lift is working in Rescue Mode

LBO: A signal of a fire alarm system is activated (only available with EN 81.73 regulation)
rE: The lift is working in inspection mode
Er: This message appears during a reset operation

In case of pressing the button “CONSULTA” S5 the display will show the status of the lift
program (code - letter S followed by two numbers, for instance S01)
