Global Perspectives Research Report Form 1 E: Rights For The Migrants
Global Perspectives Research Report Form 1 E: Rights For The Migrants
ANALYSIS:
As my research topic suggests, I will be sharing my understanding on Rights for
Migrants. As humans we have rights, our own individual entitlements or freedoms
that we possess and should be followed simply because we are humans. These
rights can vary on different humans based on their vulnerability. For example, a
child can have different rights than a woman as they have their own distinct sets of
rights.
When we talk about Migrants, they are human beings and wherever they move they
should remain with their rights and should be treated accordingly. The Migrant data
portal says, under international law Migrants have their human rights and should
not be violated just as they should be. But are these rights followed or mostly
violated?
Global perspective:
According to the UN and estimated 281 million people of the world's population live
outside the country in which they originated from. Even though the rights of
Migrants are protected by international law, these rights are often violated.
Migrants are vulnerable to human rights violations because they are not citizens of
the country they are in and due to this status, they are often in unsafe situations. To
add on to this, women migrants face additional challenges with human rights
violations because of their gender and because they are migrants. Even though
human rights cannot be taken away especially based on citizenship this cannot be
far from the truth as migrants will generally find their rights diminished compared to
those who are citizens of the countries they are in. We should also know that
states/countries have the power to manage the flow of migrants like letting in non-
nationals into their countries or removing non-nationals from their countries they
are required by international law to do so in such a way in which they do not violate
the rights of the person that is in their land/territory.
LOCAL PERSPECTIVE:
In Tanzania, migration happens a lot and comes with its own challenges. Many
Tanzanians move from villages to cities searching for better jobs and education, and
some migrate to other countries. But when they move, their rights might not always
be protected or respected. Tanzanian migrants abroad sometimes face
discrimination or fewer chances to get good jobs compared to citizens of those
countries.
Tanzania overall treats migrants very well and are very welcoming. With a lot of
famous national parks and the land which holds Africa’s tallest mountain Tanzania is
bound to get tourists and sometimes these tourists can decide to stay long term
and become more of migrants rather than just tourists. Most of Tanzania treats
these people very well and doesn't violate the rights of the migrants but there are
still areas in which people do not know the rights of migrants and can violate their
rights without even knowing so. Education is important and if all of Tanzania can be
educated on these rights, Tanzania will become a much more suitable place to live
in.
Self Perspective:
As a migrant myself my rights were never violated, and I am thankful for that
because I know that around the world people aren't always as lucky as I was for my
rights to not be violated. Some migrants get heavily discriminated against, abused
and treated very badly all around the world and it needs to stop.
From my point of view, migrants deserve to be treated fairly and with respect
because they are human beings just like all of us. Migrants leave their homes for
many reasons, such as searching for better jobs, education, or safety. It is unfair for
anyone to lose their rights or be treated badly just because they come from a
different country. We should stand up for Migrants whose voices aren't being heard
and how our world can become a better place for people.
Problem solving:
To reduce the problems migrants face, we need to take action in several ways. One
way is to raise awareness about these issues. If more people learn about migrants'
rights, they might start treating migrants with more respect and kindness. Schools
can teach students about these rights, and governments can run campaigns to
spread the message.
Reflection:
Doing this report helped me understand more about how serious the situation is for
migrants worldwide. Before, I did not realize how many migrants face unfair
treatment just because they are not citizens and how much it impacts their lives in
many negative ways. Though not all migrants get their rights violated a great deal
of them do and something needs to be done about it.

Evaluation of sources:
I believe the sources I have used are suitable for this report as these are sources, I
know I can trust and are mostly big well-known sources that everyone else in the
world can trust. The info I got from these sources were relative to my research as
they helped me gain more points and knowledge about my research topic.
