Future Forms (will & going to)

Target Level: pre-intermediate (A2-B1)

Target Age: students ages 14-17
Objective: future forms of will & going to (grammar)
Time: 45 – 60 min

Warmer: Fortune Telling

▪ students sit across from each other with a printed photo of a crystal ball between them
▪ the teacher asks students what the photo depicts & helps elaborate the crystal ball concept
▪ students then place their hands on the photo & give fortune teller readings to their partners

Grammar Review: future forms ‘will’ & ‘going to'

▪ the teacher writes ‘Future Forms’ on the board & solicits ways to talk about the future
o answers may exceed ‘will’ & ‘going to,’ only today’s focus is on ‘will’ and ‘going to’
▪ the teacher asks if there is a difference between ‘will’ & ‘going to’
o this leads to a teacher guided discussion of the function of these future forms

Going to subject + going to + base form

technology: https://youtu.be/F4ro7XBGfDw?si=UEx0uIcwO6TwMZ2o
