REVENUE DISTRICT MATHEMATICS TALENT SEARCH EXAMINATION 2022-2023

HS LEVEL-ANSWER KEY
( Finding answers using any alternative methods can be considered)

Qn.No and Answer Marks

1. 1 1

2. 2 1

3. 0 1

4. Regular Pentagon (സമപഞ്ചഭുജം) 1

5. 15 1

6. Each term of next 15 odd numbers will be greater by 30 1

The sum of next 15 terms= (30×15)+225=675 1

7. Difference in ratio=1 1

Percentage of increase= 1/4×100 = 25 1

8. Let the divided amount be 2k,5k,7k

Given 5k-2k = 1500

3k = 1500

k = 500 1

The share of C = 7×500 = 3500 1

9.

10. Let radius of inner circle be r

The radius of outer circle will be √2.r 1

Ratio of area 2 : 1 1

11. Total age of children = 11×11=121

Let the age of teacher be x

Then 121 + x / 12 = 12 1

x = 144-121 = 23 1

12. The difference of products on diagonals = 7

The possible answers are 713 and 727 1

But 727 exceeds the maximum possible product 720

Hence the answer = 713 1

13. There are 2x counting numbers between x² and (x+1)² 1

Answer = 2×105 = 210 1

14. The unit’s place of all the powers of 6 is 6 1
Adding all unit places 1+6+6+6+6+6 = 31
The digit on unit place = 1 1

15. AB² = 6² – 3² = 36 – 9 = 27
AB = √27 = 3√3 1
Sides are in the ratio 1:√3:2
So, <B=30º 1

16. Let r be the radius of the smaller circle.

Then the radius of the Larger circle = 3r 1
Area of large circle = 9πr² 1
Total area of 7 small circles = 7πr² 1
Area of shaded portion = 9πr² – 7πr²
= 2πr² 1
Shaded area is Twice the area of a small circle 1

17. The unshaded part is 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/8 =5/8 3

So, 3/8 part of the rectangle is shaded 2

18.LCM of 2,3,4,5 is 60 2
We check if 60k+1 is divisible by 7 1
The Least possible number is 301.Answer is 301 2

19. a) 22 24 26 28 30 1
b) First number of the 10th row is the 46th even number = 46×2=92 2
c) Last number of the 10th row is the 55th even number = 55x 2 =110 2

20. Let x and y be the sides

x²+y² = 468 1

4( x-y) = 24

x-y = 6 ( Equation 1) 1

2xy = (x²+y²) – (x-y)²

= 468-36 = 432

xy = 216

(x+y)² = x²+y²+2xy = 468 + 432 = 900

x+y = 30 (Equation 2) 1

Solving equation 1 and 2 we get 2x = 36

x = 18 1

From 18+y = 30 we get y = 30-18 = 12 1

Another Method

x²+y² = 468
4( x-y) = 24 1
x-y = 6 1
x = 6+y
x²+y² = 468
(6+y)² + y² =468 1
36+12y+ y²+ y² = 468
2y² + 12y =432
y² + 6y = 216
y² + 6y + 9 = 225
Solving y+3 = 15, y= 12 1
x = 6+12 = 18 1
