Question One
i. Step and impulse response of the following systems with unity feedback connection.
ii. step response of a unity feedback system having forward path transfer function
iii. step response of a unity feedback system having forward path transfer function
Question Two
a) plot the response of the system when R(S) is a unit impulse and unit step for the parameters
Z = 4, 10 and 12
b) Determine the transfer function using MATLAB from the block diagram as shown below,
obtain the impulse, and step responses of the system.

Results and Discussion
From the MATLAB simulations, the following observations were made:
• The first-order system exhibited an exponential approach to steady-state.
• The second-order system displayed oscillations depending on damping.
• Increasing led to faster responses but increased overshoot.
• Higher values of modified system dynamics by affecting stability and settling time.
Conclusion
The experiment successfully demonstrated the step and impulse responses of first- and second-
order systems. MATLAB proved to be an efficient tool for analyzing system dynamics, confirming
theoretical expectations.
