provides a record of the Installation.

Introduction
Customer Responsibilities
• Customers should leave the instrument shipment for the engineer to unpack.
• Customers should provide all necessary operating supplies upon request of the engineer.
• A customer representative should be available to the engineer while performing the installation.
• Being present at some installation tasks will be beneficial to you – refer to sections in this checklist
that are noted with (Customer Presence Recommended).

❑ Unpack/verify the condition and completeness of shipment. For discrepancies, use the following
table.
❑ Before starting, discuss any specific questions or issues with the customer.
❑ Review with the customer the location in the lab for the instrument system and areas near the
instrument where consumables, accessories and tools will be stored.
❑ Before starting, discuss any configuration options with the customer.
❑ Check for required service note applicability and firmware update requirements.
❑ Upgrades only – Ensure with customer that instrument control settings, data, methods, etc. have
been properly saved or archived before starting any installation procedures.
Installation Procedure
HS Installation Tasks
❑ Place the HS on the bench.
❑ Verify that the customer site line voltage is compatible with the configuration plug and power
cord that was shipped with the unit.
❑ Remove the tray from the packing box.
❑ Remove the shipping screws and clamps from the tray using the T-20 screwdriver provided in the
instrument ship kit.
❑ 120-Vial tray only: Lift the two clips from the rail
❑ Install the tray on top of the HS unit and connect the cable from the tray to the HS unit.
❑ Install the two vial racks for 8697 HS 48-vial tray and five vial racks for 120-vial tray
❑ Remove the transferline from the packing box.
❑ Install the transferline to the HS unit and connect the heater/sensor cable to the HS unit.
Service Review
❑ Attach available reports/printouts to this documentation.
❑ Record the time/date of installation or upgrade completion in the customer’s records/logbook.
❑ Complete the following Service Engineer comments section if there are additional comments.
❑ Review the installation/upgrade with the customer.
❑ Explain Agilent warranty for instruments.
❑ Explain how to use manuals, guides, and online help.
❑ Explain how to get self-help, and FAQs online.
❑ Explain how to log an instrument service call and support services that are available.
❑ Advise customer of additional instrument training options.
❑ If the instrument firmware was updated, record the details of the change in the service engineer’s
comments box or if necessary, in the customer’s IQ records.
❑ Provide the customer a copy of the Smart Alerts flyer.
❑ Describe Smart Alerts to the customer.
❑ Install Smart Alerts if requested.
