BIG BOOKS

Big Books are large-sized books with big prints and clear pictures.
They are commonly used for shared reading activities o sabayang
pagbasa ng buong klase. Because of their large pages and text,
students can easily see and follow along, kahit nasa malayo sila.
These books help engage young learners in reading and make it
easier for them to understand the story since sabay-sabay nila
itong nababasa at nakikita.
A Big Book has large text and extra space between words, na
mas madaling mabasa ng lahat. The pictures match the words to
help with understanding. It repeats words often so children can
remember them easily. Ang ibang kwento ay may rhyme at
rhythm para gawing mas masaya ang pagbabasa. The stories are
interesting and easy to remember. The words are also predictable,
helping children guess what happens next in the story.
Shared Reading
Shared Reading is when the teacher and students read a big
book together.
Modeled Reading (The Read-Aloud)
In this activity, binabasa ng teacher ng malakas yung story form
This helps the students learn how to read and understand stories.
By listening to the teacher, they pick up new words and see how
sentences are formed.
It’s like the teacher shows the class how to read, and the students
learn by listening and following.
Guided Reading
strategies. So for examples, kung paano unawain ang binabasa,
clues.
Independent Reading
In independent reading, children read by themselves.
salitang madalas nilang naririnig. by seeing these words every
day, matututo silang magbasa nang mag-isa. This helps children
practice reading and build confidence in understanding what they
read, all on their own.
Small Books
The small book is a smaller version of the big book. It uses the
same story or content but in a more compact size, usually around
6"x6". The same process is followed when making the small book,
just like with the big book. This smaller size is easier for children
to hold and read, making it more comfortable for them to read on
their own.
Alphabet Chart
An Alphabet Chart shows both big and small letters, and next to
each letter is a picture of something that starts with that letter.
The name of the object is written under the
picture. This helps kids learn:
 To recognize letters
 The order of letters in the alphabet
 The sounds that each letter makes
 To match pictures with words

Alphabet Primer

Ang Alphabet Primer ay katulad lang sa

Alphabet Chart.
pagsusulat. It helps children learn the letters of
the alphabet and how to read in their Mother
Tongue. It’s a useful tool to start learning how to
read and recognize letters in a fun and simple
way.

Next slide (Sound of language Book)

An Alphabet Primer may not be in chart form but in booklet form.

It is sometimes called the "Sound of Language Book." This
material is used to teach children the sounds of each letter and
how they are used in their language. It helps children learn the
basic steps of reading by focusing on letter sounds and word
formation in a simple and engaging way.

The Sound of Language Book is important because it helps

students learn the sounds of letters and how these sounds make
up words in their language. It shows how to connect the sounds
together to read words and sentences. This makes it easier for
students to start reading and understanding what’s written on a
page.

Picture File

kanilang sariling wika o mother tongue.
matutunan. By looking at pictures, mas madaling maintindihan ng
This tool helps students learn in a
way that makes sense to them, based on their own experiences
and knowledge.

Activity Cards are cards used for fun learning games in class.
These cards have pictures or information that help students
practice different skills.

 Speaking skills are improved because students answer

questions based on the pictures on the cards.
 Critical Thinking skills are developed as students sort,
match, and group the cards based on similar themes or
ideas.
 Multisensory awareness is strengthened because
students use their eyes to look at the cards and their other
senses to interact with them, which helps them understand
better.

In simple terms, activity cards make learning more interactive

and help students think, speak, and use their senses to
understand the lesson better.

Chart Stories are big charts with pictures and stories that help
young learners improve their listening and speaking skills. These
charts are used to make students more confident kapag pinag-
The pictures in the
chart help them remember past experiences and tell stories.

In simple terms, chart stories help kids practice listening,

speaking, and telling their own stories using pictures that remind
them of what they already know.

Realia are real objects that teachers use in lessons. These

materials help students learn by using things they can see and
touch, making learning more fun and interactive. Realia takes
students' learning beyond the classroom and helps them connect
with real-life experiences. It also helps students use their own
knowledge and culture to understand better.
