How to update a Stonex software on the

controller ?

1. If you need to install a Stonex software (SurvCE, GeoGis or Pocket Mobile) or


update it to the last version, you need a software that allows you to detect
and manage the controller from you Pc:

_If your operative system is Windows Vista or 7 (32-bit) download from web
page http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14 the
program “Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1” and install it.
_ If your operative system is Windows Vista or 7 (64-bit) or Windows 8
download from web page
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3182 the
program “Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1” and install it.
_Otherwise if your operative system is Windows Xp or earlier, then download
from web page
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=15
the program “Microsoft Active Sync 4.5” and install it.

2. Download the setup of the software into your computer, the setup should be
provided from the local Stonex dealer/agent or can be downloaded from
Stonex website reserved area for end user, you can write to [email protected]
for getting the access to the reserved area, by specifying the serial number of
your instruments.

3. Connect your handheld to your computer by USB cable. Windows Mobile


Device Center or Active Sync should activate after some tens of seconds, in
some cases some minutes can occur for installing the drivers: you will see the
following window and you can read “connect” like showed by red arrow:

4. Double click on the setup file, without copy it on the controller, and follow the
instructions, the installation will take few minutes. If you install it in the same
folder of the previous version, you will keep all previous jobs and settings.

As regards Stonex SurvCE please remember to pay attention of the setup that you
are going to install: be sure that the version is the proper version for your controller
and that you are installing a Stonex version or Carlson version, and that you are not
installing a version 3.xx on a version 2.xx without upgrade license has been
purchased, on the contrary your registration will be lost until you come back to the
correct version. In case this happened, we suggest to contact your dealer or Stonex
Technical Support and not try to register the license a second time.

How to register SurvCE license ?


Open the page “Equip  About Stonex SurvCE  Change Registration” and arrive to
the “Product Registration” page.

Then you have to insert into “Serial Number” textbox, the software license serial
number provided by Stonex. Click on “Get Code” and a code of 8 numbers appears
beside “Reg Code”.

Then you have to start an internet browser and go to the website of Carlson to the
page http://www.survce.com/Stonex, here you can find the form for registering
SurvCE.

Besides of writing your name, phone number, email, etc., you have to insert:

• “Serial Number”: the license serial number.


• “Hardware ID #1” and “Hardware ID #2”: you can find it in the “Product
Registration” page on SurvCE (Fig.3).
• “Reason for install”: you have to select “Initial Installation of Stonex SurvCE”.
• “Registration Code”: obtained in the previous step in the proper box in the
“Product Registation” page (Fig.3).

Then click on “Submit Registration”, you will get another code: this code has to be
inserted into “Enter Change Key” box in “Product Registration” page of your
controller (you can see it in the bottom of Fig. 3). Then click “Ok” and your
registration procedure is finished.

If you have a Carlson SurvCE license instead of a Stonex SurvCE one, the procedure is
similar except the online registration form which you can find on the website:

How to register GeoGis license ?

If at the startup of Stonex GeoGis software a license is required, in case of the first
installation or after a verson upgrade, you will see the following window:

If the license has been already purchased, then click on “GeoGis Full”, otherwise you
can ask for a demo license with a duration of 20-days, so click on “GeoGis Trial”, in
both cases the following window appears:

Then you can send to your dealer/agent or write to [email protected] the 8-


characters activation key: you will receive from Stonex the registration code, insert it
and you can use the software.
