FusionSolar 1 Introduction to the Smart Tracker Control
Smart Tracker Control Algorithm User Manual Algorithm

1 Introduction to the Smart Tracker

Control Algorithm

Functions and Features

The Smart Tracker Control Algorithm (SDS) is developed based on the
SmartLogger, SUN2000 inverter, and horizontal single-axis trackers, and uses a
unified O&M management platform to automatically control the tracker angles,
simplifying plant design, reducing system costs, and increasing energy yields.
● Intelligent control
The SDS uses the collected data of PV string voltage, current, and power,
together with intelligent analysis of big data, to determine the shading
conditions. In addition, the SDS also considers the weather conditions such as
cloud and rain, to perform intelligent angle tracking and control, achieving
the optimal angle for maximum power.
● Simple system networking
Two communication networking modes are supported:
– TCU-inverter-SmartLogger networking: The TCU uploads tracker
information to the SmartLogger through the inverter.
– TCU-NCU-SmartLogger networking: The TCU uploads tracker information
to the SmartLogger through the NCU.
● Unified O&M
Huawei FusionSolar Smart PV Management System (SmartPVMS) provides a
dedicated management module for the SDS to monitor the tracking system
and control the angle. For example, the management system proactively
reports tracker fault information, displays current tracking angle, and supports
remote control.

2 Managing the SDS License

The SDS can be used only after a license is purchased. The SDS license file is
stored in the SmartLogger. The SN of the SmartLogger uniquely maps to the
license.

Process of Applying for an SDS License

1. The user exports the license application file from the FusionSolar SmartPVMS
and sends it to the technical support engineer.
2. The technical support engineer obtains an SDS license from the license
application platform and sends the license file to the user.
3. The user imports the license file to the FusionSolar SmartPVMS and loads the
license file to obtain the authorization of the SDS function.

NOTE

● Difference = [Yield of the target object (kWh) – Energy yield of the benchmark
(kWh)]/Energy yield of the benchmark (kWh) x 100%. If the difference is a positive
value, the yield is improved.
● Improvement over benchmark = [Energy yield of the target object (kWh)/Energy
yield of the benchmark (kWh)] x 100% – Benchmark value. If the improvement
over benchmark is a positive value, the yield is improved.
