IMPORTANT DATES FOR LL.M DISSERTATION:

• February 15, 2025: Last date to finalize the dissertation topic by each student in
consultation with the faculty coordinator.
• March 07, 2025: Last date to submit the first draft of dissertation to the dissertation
committee.
• April 07, 2025: Last date for submission of final draft of dissertation to the University.

FORMAT OF LLM DISSERTATION:

Dissertation work is an integral part of the Master Degree Program (LL.M) at Renaissance University,
Indore. The main object of the dissertation work is to facilitate a master’s degree student to
examine an issue of contemporary relevance with in depth study and examine issues of vital
importance with inter-disciplinary or analytical approach.

SEQUENCE OF PAGES IN DISSERTATION:

1. Cover page.
2. Certificate
3. Declaration
4. Acknowledgement
5. Preface
6. Abbreviations
7. Table of cases
8. Contents
9. Main text
10. Bibliography
11. Appendixes
MAIN TEXT

• The main text shall be divided into chapters and sub-chapters which will consist of the
major portion of your dissertation.
• Each chapter and sub-chapter shall consist of the following details:
o Chapter number
o Name of the chapter
o Main paragraphs and sub-paragraphs (wherever required)
o Foot notes/references (as per bluebook 20th edition or above).

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

• Every student shall choose a topic from his stream of specialization; any topic which is
found contrary to the same will be rejected. (For Example: A student of criminal law as
his/her stream of specialization cannot choose topic from corporate law, Constitutional Law
or IP laws).
• Every student shall submit two hardbound copies of their dissertation to the University by
the prescribed date and as per the approval of final draft by the dissertation committee.
• The dissertation must contain a minimum of 100 pages and there is no limit for maximum
pages.
• The dissertation shall be printed with the current year on the top and followed by the title
of the dissertation in the prescribed manner.
• The paper size shall be ‘International Standard paper size’ A4 (297 x 210 mm) and one
shall use ‘Bond paper’ in the prescribed size.
• Typing on one side of the paper only.
• Margins:
o Top – 1.0”
o Bottom – 1.0”
o Left – 1.5”
o Right – 1.50”
• Line Spacing: 1.5 Lines.
• Character Spacing: Justified (Ctrl + J)
• Font: ‘Times New Roman’ and Font Size: 12 for main text and 10 for
footnotes/references.
• A sample front page design is attached as Appendix – A.

FOOTNOTES:

• Font: ‘Times New Roman’.


• Font Size: 10.
• Line Spacing: 1.0
• Numbering should be in continuation from first chapter of the main text to the last chapter.
• Contents prior to the first chapter shall be numbered in Roman.
• Contents after the last chapter should also be numbered in Roman.
• Appendix (if any) should not be numbered at all.
