Lab 11: Create a timeline-based animation using a software tool of your choice. Explain
the concept of timeline-based animation and describe the steps involved in creating the
animation.
THEORY:
Timeline-based animation is a technique used to create smooth motion by defining keyframes
along a timeline. These keyframes mark the starting and ending points of transitions for visual
properties such as position, opacity, rotation, and size. Photoshop automatically interpolates
frames between keyframes to create fluid movement.
Steps to Create a Timeline-Based Animation in Photoshop
Create a New Document:
➢ Open Photoshop and create a new document (e.g., 2480x1748 pixels).
Draw the Pentagon:
➢ Use the Pentagon Tool to draw a Pentagon.
➢ Rename the layer to "Pentagon" for better organization.
Open the Timeline:
➢ Go to Window > Timeline and click Create Video Timeline to enable animation
features.
Add Keyframes:
➢ Select the Transform property in the Timeline panel.
➢ At Frame 0, click the stopwatch icon to set the initial keyframe for position, rotation,
and size.
Rotate and Resize the Square:
➢ Move the playhead forward on the timeline.
➢ Use Free Transform (Ctrl+T / Cmd+T) to rotate and resize the square.
➢ Photoshop will automatically generate new keyframes.
Preview the Animation:
➢ Click Play in the Timeline panel to preview the animation.
Export the Animation:
➢ Go to File > Export > Render Video to export as a video.
➢ Alternatively, use File > Export > Save for Web (Legacy) to export as a GIF.

Conclusion
In this lab, we learned how timeline-based animation allows precise control over object
movement and transformation. By using keyframes, motion tweens, and easing effects, we can
create smooth and engaging animations widely used in game design, web animations, and
multimedia presentations.

Lab 12: Create an animation using timeline and Scene-Based Animation. Provide a
detailed description of the steps followed and include screenshots or a video of the
animation.
THEORY
In this project, we have created an animation using the timeline and scene-based animation .
The steps below provide a detailed breakdown of the process we followed to animate the text
and other graphical elements.
Creating an Animation in Canva:
1. Set Up the Project and Elements
➢ Create a New Design: Open Canva and click Create a Design → Choose Custom Size
(e.g., 600x600 pixels).
➢ Add Text & Graphics: Insert any text and any graphic elements of your choice.
➢ Layer Management: Arrange elements properly, as Canva does not support layer-
based animation.
2. Apply Animations
➢ Select an Element: Click on the text or graphic you want to animate.
➢ Choose an Animation: Go to the Animate option in the top menu and choose effects
like: Fade, Rise etc. and typewriter or Neon for text effects.
➢ Adjust Timing: Click on the animation settings to change duration and delay.
3. Use Page Transitions for Scene-Based Animation
➢ Duplicate pages with slight element changes.
➢ Apply page transitions for smooth movement.
4. Preview & Refine
➢ Click Play to preview the animation.
➢ Adjust animations, transitions, and timing for a smoother effect.
5. Export the Animation
➢ Choose MP4 for a high-quality animated video.

Conclusion
In this lab, we learned how to design simple animated banner ads using Canva. We applied
key design principles like visual hierarchy, consistency, simplicity, and a strong call to action.
The animation techniques included fade-in/out, sliding text, and pulsing effects to enhance
visual appeal. Our final airline-themed banner featured the text "50% OFF THIS HOLI",
emphasizing the promotion. Using movement and transitions, we created engaging and
effective visuals. These skills are useful for creating compelling digital advertisements.
