ABSTRACT
This report presents the work carried out during a 15-week internship at Harshith Data
Science and IT Solutions LLP, where I served as a Data Analyst Intern. The internship
aimed to bridge academic learning with industry practices through hands-on experience in
data processing, analysis, and visualization.

The core project undertaken during the internship was titled “Ola Data Analysis”, which
involved extracting insights from ride-sharing service data to support business decisions.
The primary tools used in this project included Python, Excel, SQL, and Power BI. The
responsibilities ranged from cleaning raw datasets, conducting exploratory data analysis
(EDA), writing efficient SQL queries, to building interactive dashboards that visually
communicate key performance indicators (KPIs) such as ride trends, revenue
breakdowns, city-wise performance, and customer behaviour.

In addition to technical development, the internship provided exposure to working in a

professional environment under deadlines, adhering to industry standards, and presenting
findings to stakeholders. The report documents weekly progress, skills acquired,
challenges encountered, and the final outcomes of the project.

The internship significantly enhanced my analytical thinking, technical skills, and

understanding of business intelligence workflows. The experience has prepared me to
take on more complex data challenges and contribute meaningfully in the field of data
analytics.

CHAPTER-2
WORK RESPONSIBILITIES
2.1 Work Responsibilities
During my internship at Harshith Data Science and IT Solutions LLP, I was entrusted
with a wide range of responsibilities aligned with the typical tasks handled by a Data
Analyst. These responsibilities were aimed at giving me practical exposure to data-driven
decision-making and the tools used in industry settings. The major responsibilities assigned
to me are described in detail below:

1. Data Collection and Integration

One of the first responsibilities I undertook was assisting in collecting, compiling, and
integrating data from various sources such as internal databases, CSV files, Excel
spreadsheets, and APIs. This helped me understand the significance of gathering consistent
and reliable data before beginning any analysis.

• Extracted data using SQL queries and Python scripts.

• Merged data from multiple sources to create a unified dataset.

2. Data Cleaning and Pre-processing

Raw data often contains inconsistencies, missing values, duplicates, and formatting issues.
I was tasked with preparing the data for analysis by cleaning and pre-processing it. This
involved:

• Handling missing values using techniques like imputation and deletion.

• Removing duplicate records.
• Normalizing and transforming data types.
• Encoding categorical variables where needed.
• Using Python libraries such as Pandas and NumPy for data manipulation.

DEPT OF CSE HUVINA HADAGALI-583219 3|Page

Ola Data Analysis 2024-25

3. Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA)

Exploratory Data Analysis is a critical phase in understanding data. I carried out EDA using
visual and statistical methods to identify trends, patterns, correlations, and anomalies in the
dataset.

• Utilized Matplotlib, Seaborn for visualizations.

• Generated histograms, scatter plots, box plots, and correlation heatmaps.

4. Data Visualization and Dashboard Development

Another key responsibility was to develop meaningful dashboards that presented insights
in an intuitive and accessible manner for non-technical stakeholders. I used visualization
tools to convert raw data into visually appealing charts and graphs.

• Created interactive dashboards using Power BI.

• Designed visual components like pie charts, bar graphs, KPIs, and slicers.

5. Report Generation and Presentation

I was responsible for summarizing the analytical findings into clear, actionable reports.
These reports were reviewed during internal meetings and helped the team in decision-
making.

• Automated weekly insights reports using Word.

• Compiled PowerPoint presentations for internal stakeholders.
• Participated in meetings to present key findings and suggestions.

6. Team Collaboration and Communication

I worked under the supervision of a senior data analyst and regularly interacted with team
members including developers, business analysts, and the project manager. This helped me
enhance my communication, teamwork, and task management skills.

• Attended daily stand-up meetings.

• Participated in brainstorming sessions and sprint planning.
