The document is a project report submitted by four students for their B. Tech degree in Computer Science and Engineering, focusing on developing a heart disease prediction model using machine learning algorithms. The study highlights the limitations of traditional risk assessment tools and demonstrates that ensemble methods outperform other algorithms in predictive accuracy. Key predictors identified include age, blood pressure, cholesterol level, and chest pain type, with the model serving as a potential tool for early heart disease detection.

ABSTRACT

Heart disease is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, and

early detection and intervention are crucial for preventing its progression.
Traditional risk assessment tools for heart disease such as the Framingham Risk
Score have limitations in their predictive accuracy, and there is a need for more
accurate and robust predictive models.

Machine learning algorithms have shown promising results in predicting the

occurrence of heart disease by analysing various clinical and non-clinical
variables. These algorithms can identify complex patterns and interactions
among predictors that are not easily discernible by traditional statistical
methods. The objective of this project is to develop a heart disease prediction
model using machine learning algorithms. The dataset used in this study is
obtained from the Kaggle Repository and includes various clinical and non-
clinical variables associated with heart disease. In this study, we employ several
machine learning algorithms such as K-NN, Navies Bayes, Ensemble classifier
is used to build the prediction model. The performance of each algorithm is
evaluated by the accuracy.

The results of this study show that the ensemble outperforms other algorithms in
terms of predictive accuracy and generalization ability. The identified important
predictors for heart disease include age, blood pressure, cholesterol level, and
chest pain type. The proposed model can be used as a Prediction tool to predict
the occurrence of heart disease.
