You have been approached by www.mwalimu.ug to compute Housing


Allowances, Medical allowances, Transport Allowances, Gross pay, Taxable
Amount, PAYE, NSSF and Net pay for each of their employees as below.
a. Using an appropriate spreadsheet, create the table below as it is and
answer the questions that follow.

i. Insert columns for; Gross pay, Taxable Amount, PAYE, NSSF, Net pay,
years of experience and Category.
ii. Add more three entries using names, age and basic pay of your choice.
Note your Basic Pay should not be less than 600,000 and not more
than 900,000, and age should not be less than 30 and not more than
65.
b. For each employee use appropriate spreadsheet formula to calculate:
i. Housing allowances for all employees as 12% of Basic pay.
ii. Medical allowances as 5% of Housing allowance.
iii. All employees are paid a constant transport fare of Ushs.20,000 plus
1% of Basic pay
iv. Use a function to calculate Gross pay as total of basic pay and all
allowances.
v. Taxable Amount as gross pay in excess of Ushs.80, 000 for all
employees.
vi. Use an IF function to compute PAYE as 5% of taxable amount which
is less than Ushs.800, 000 and 10% of taxable amount which is
greater or equal to Ushs.800, 000.
vii. Compute NSSF as 0.25 of Basic pay.
viii. Compute Net pay obtained by subtracting all deductions from gross
pay.
ix. Insert a border round your table
x. Copy your work to sheet 2, rename sheet 2 new copy and sheet
1original copy.
Get back to sheet 1 (original copy)
xi. Assuming the institution employs its workers at the age of 24, compute
the time each employee has finished in the institution in the new
column of years of experience.
xii. Assuming that the organization categorizes its employees in three
groups that is to say employees; above 50 years as consultants,
between 35 and 49 as seniors and below 34 as juniors. Use Vlookup
function in the column called category to grade the employees.
xiii. Create the column graph and a line graph in one chart showing net pay
and gross pay for each employee. Use gross pay as secondary axis
 Label the axis
 Insert the title of the graph
