Assignment 1

The assignment involves measuring parameters using a voltmeter and a load cell, with tasks including calculating errors, accuracy, and static characteristics. Specific measurements and calibration data are provided for analysis, including true values and indicated values for various tests. Students are required to determine accuracy, hysteresis, linearity, and perform error calculations based on the given data.

ASSIGNMENT -1

[Measuring parameters]

ASSIGNMENT DATE: 17-07-2023 SUBMISSION DATE: 20-07-2023

1. A voltmeter is used for measuring an output of an instrument having an accuracy of ±2% of full
scale output. If the voltmeter indicates 10V in its linear range scale of 0V to 50V then find out
the error of readings.
2. If the above instrument’s true output is 100V and the measuring voltmeter indicates 104V,
103V, 105V, 103V and 105V after several attempt of measurement then find out the accuracy
and reproducibility error of the voltmeter.
3. A voltmeter reads 152V for a particular measurement, If the true value of the measurement is
154V, determine the percentage of static relative error and static correction.
4. List and explain any Five Static characteristics parameters of the measuring system.
5. A load cell is a transducer used to measure weight. A calibration record table is given below.
Determine (a) accuracy, (b) hysteresis and (c) linearity of the transducer. If we assume that the
true output has a linear relationship with the input and the full scale output of the load cell is
20mV.
To determine the Linearity use three methods and plot the curve for each method: End point
straight line method, Independent straight line method and best-fit straight line method
