computers and tips for computers for personal use.

Specific Objectives:
By the end of this lesson, you should be able to:
1. understand the concept of personal computing;
2. identify the different types of personal computers; and
3. demonstrate how to assess and choose the right computer for your needs.

ISTE The ISTE Standards for Students that are relevant to Personal Computing include:
Standards:  Empowered Learner - Students use technology to take an active role in choosing,
achieving, and demonstrating their learning goals.
 Knowledge Constructor - Students use technology to construct new knowledge, create
digital artifacts, and communicate their ideas effectively.
 Creative Communicator - Students use technology to express themselves creatively,
communicate with others, and share their ideas and experiences.
 Global Collaborator - Students use technology to work collaboratively with others, both
locally and globally, and to understand and respect different perspectives and cultures.

CSTA The CSTA Standards for Students that are relevant to Personal Computing include:
Standards:  Technology Operations and Concepts: Understand and use technology systems.
 Computational Thinking: Use technology tools to create, debug, and test programs.
 Technology Applications: Use digital tools to generate new ideas, products, or processes.
 Social, Ethical, and Human Issues: Understand the ethical, cultural, and societal issues
related to technology and practice responsible use.

Values Integration:
1. Ability to think clearly and logically.
2. Longing to know and understand.
3. Independence of thought and flexibility of mind.
4. Awareness of the use of information technology skills in the world beyond the classroom.

1. Computer Assessment

Practice Activity:

 The teacher will Divide students into groups of three or four.

 Distribute the computer systems to each group.
 Have students fill out the pre-assessment section of the checklist, which
includes basic information about the computer system such as its model,
operating system, and specifications.
 Instruct students to work together to conduct a comprehensive
assessment of their computer system using the checklist as a guide.
 Encourage students to thoroughly inspect and test each component of the
computer system, such as the hardware, software, and peripherals.
 Have students take notes and document any issues or areas of
improvement.
