I. OBJECTIVES
In this lesson, the student will learn the concept of computing. This lesson discusses the different types of personal
computers and tips for computers for personal use.
Specific Objectives:
By the end of this lesson, you should be able to:
1. understand the concept of personal computing;
2. identify the different types of personal computers; and
3. demonstrate how to assess and choose the right computer for your needs.
ISTE The ISTE Standards for Students that are relevant to Personal Computing include:
Standards: Empowered Learner - Students use technology to take an active role in choosing,
achieving, and demonstrating their learning goals.
Knowledge Constructor - Students use technology to construct new knowledge, create
digital artifacts, and communicate their ideas effectively.
Creative Communicator - Students use technology to express themselves creatively,
communicate with others, and share their ideas and experiences.
Global Collaborator - Students use technology to work collaboratively with others, both
locally and globally, and to understand and respect different perspectives and cultures.
CSTA The CSTA Standards for Students that are relevant to Personal Computing include:
Standards: Technology Operations and Concepts: Understand and use technology systems.
Computational Thinking: Use technology tools to create, debug, and test programs.
Technology Applications: Use digital tools to generate new ideas, products, or processes.
Social, Ethical, and Human Issues: Understand the ethical, cultural, and societal issues
related to technology and practice responsible use.
Values Integration:
1. Ability to think clearly and logically.
2. Longing to know and understand.
3. Independence of thought and flexibility of mind.
4. Awareness of the use of information technology skills in the world beyond the classroom.

IV. PROCEDURES
1. Have students work in pairs or small groups to research and discuss each type of
computer.
2. Instruct students to create a chart or diagram that summarizes the advantages and
disadvantages of each type of computer.
3. Lead a class discussion where students share their findings and present their
charts/diagrams.

daily living ELABORATE
The teacher will discuss real-world scenarios where each type of computer might be used
H. Making (e.g. personal computers for home use, servers for businesses, supercomputers for scientific
generalizations and research), and Have students individually write a short paragraph discussing which type of
abstractions about computer they would choose for a specific scenario and why.

EVALUATE
I. Evaluating learning The teacher will ask the students to do the activity in ICT BOOK 1 page 90
EXTEND
Have students research emerging types of computers (e.g. quantum computers,
neuromorphic computers) and present their findings to the class.
J. Additional activities
for application or Have students create a multimedia presentation that compares and contrasts different
remediation types of computers.
Have students create a virtual computer lab where they can practice using different types of
computers.
