Batch Numbering
Batch Numbering
After reviewing the batch numbering requirements, we propose the following solution to ensure that batch numbers
are unique within PHARCO Corp. This will be achieved by adhering to the attached number ranges, where the
characters S/M will serve as the first digit of the batch number (e.g., batch number S100010 instead of 1S00010).
Here’s how this will be implemented:
1. Goods Receipt:
a. let the system create a new batch for R1 based on the number available in the internal
number range in this case the new batch no will be S200009
b. receive the quantity on the already existing batch the available batchs in this case will be
(S200001, S200006, and S200008)
c. if we want to keep the batch number S100004 from plant 1010 the user will enter the batch
number manually and the batch will extend to plant 2010
a) To meet the requirement that “both printed primary and secondary packaging materials should bear the same
batch number,” which covers 90% of products:
The batch for secondary packaging materials (finished product) will be assigned after the process order
release, based on the batch determined for primary packaging (semi-finished product). After the order is
saved (released and SM batch determined), the user will press the create the batch button then the system
will create the batch automatically to match the primary packaging batch number.
That means that we have two types of process order types (order types with automatic internal number
range for semi-finished products and order types with custom number range for finished products as
discussed above).
b) To meet the requirement that “if the batch for a specific product is split into different sub-batches, each sub-
batch should be uniquely identified,” the user will manually add the required character to the batch number after
generation and save the order.
General Notes:
1. An external number range allows batch numbers to be created with any format for any material.
2. The system will not allow the creation of two identical batch numbers for the same material code within the
same plant.
