1. Course Descriptions
This course is aimed at enriching the prospective teacher’s delivery capability by using
appropriate teaching/learning methods and strategies specific to the particular contents of
school ICT subject syllabus.
The course units are divided based on the theme they contain. All secondary and primary
school level ICT syllabus contents are included in the thematic topics. Hence, practical
teaching/learning methods and strategies need to be employed for each of them.
Themes that require laboratory training do have both theoretical and laboratory based
student/teacher activities and training methods. The main themes that needs to be covered in
both theoretical and practical sessions with appropriate teaching and assessment methods
includes, application software(word processing spreadsheet processing desktop publishing
and data abase management), programming languages (LOGO), website development and the
Internet , multimedia authoring, computer maintenance.

1.5. Computer Maintenance: preventive maintenance, maintenance tool kits
1.6. Preferred methods of teaching & assessing practical ICT subjects: required
hardware, software, toolkits, teaching method, assessment method

3. Objectives of the Course


3.1 General Objective
The general objective of the course is to let prospective teachers(students) get an in-depth
understanding , skills and use of appropriate teaching methodologies for teaching both the
theoretical and lab. Sessions of ICT course major subjects (computer system, networking,
multimedia, and computer maintenance and information systems).
3.2 Specific Objectives
After completing this course the prospective teacher will be able to internalize and
effectively teach both the theoretical and practical ICT sessions which allows students
(prospective teacher’s) to:
 Understand main themes of ICT teaching in Schools
 Describe and demonstrate computer software use and development
 Discuss the various types of information systems and their application
 Describe and demonstrate Internet use and web site development process
 Describe and demonstrate multimedia content authoring
 Discuss and demonstrate computer maintenance activities

Modes of Teaching
Brain Storming, gap-lecture, group discussions, demonstration, Lesson plan preparation,
Peer-teaching observation
Instructional Resources: Office Application Software, Computers, Macro media Flash,
Photoshop, Maintenance tool kit, failed computer, Web browser software

Modes of Assessment
 Test : 20 %
 School Session Observation Report (20%)
 Mini Presentation(lesson plan & peer teaching(including lab. Teaching)) : 20 %
 Final Exam : 40 %
