TECHNICAL PROBLEM

An air conditioned auditorium is to be maintained at 24°C dry bulb temperature and 55 %

RH. The sensible and heat loads are 20 kw and 7 kw, respectively. The conditioned air
enters the auditorium at 17°C. For proper ventilation, 40 % of the air supply is fresh air and
rest is recirculated air. Outside air is at 34°C and 50 % RH. Determine:
a) Draw the schematic diagram and indicate the correct processes (from state1
to state 5) in the psychrometric chart
b) The volume flowrate of recirculated air (in m3/sec)
c) The apparatus dew point temperature (in °C)
d) The refrigeration (cooling) load in the conditioner (in kJ/min)
e) The heat gained by air in the reheater (in kJ/min)
f) The capacity of supply fan (in gal/min)

NOTE: From the above Technical Problem,

1. Multiply 1.0 kw to the number of your name in the attendance to serve as increment and add to the
given to sensible heat load indicated above.
2. Multiply 0.35 kw to the number of your name in the attendance to serve as increment and add to
the given to latent heat load indicated above.
