How many electrons leave the battery per minute
(b) A bird stand on a DC electric transmitter line carrying 2800A. The
line has 2.5 × 10− 5Ω resistance per meter and the bird’s feet are
4.00cm apart . What is the potential difference between the bird’s
feet??
(c) A length os Aluminium wire is connected to a precision 10.0V power
supply and current of 0.4212A is precisely measure at 20°C .The wire
is placed in a new temperature environment of unknown temperature
where the measured current is 0.3618A. What is the unknown tem-
perature??
(d) Two aluminium wires have the same resistance. If one has twice the
length of the other , What is the ratio of the diameter of the longer
wire to the diameter of the shorter wire??
(e) The heating element of an electric Oven is designed to produce 3.3KW
of heat when connected to a 240V source. What must be the resis-
tance of the element.
3. Question 3
(a) A 120V hair dryer has two setting 850W and 1250W
i. At what setting do you expect the resistance be higher.
ii. After making a guess , determine the resistance
A. lower setting
B. higher setting
4. Question 4
(a) How many minutes does it take a 60W light bulb connected in a
typical home to use up electric energy of 1.2KWH ?
(b) An electric heater draws a steady 15A from 120V line. How much
power does it require and how much is cost per month(30days) if it
operates 3hours per day and escom charges 100kwacha per KWH?
