GRAPHIC DESIGN

Graphic design is the process of creating visual content using elements like typography,
images, and colors to communicate messages or ideas. It involves combining text, images,
and graphics to create visually appealing materials.

Graphic design is the art of communicating ideas and messages through visual and textual
content. It involves creating visual elements such as logos, graphics, typography, and images
to convey messages, express ideas, and create aesthetically pleasing compositions.

Elements of Graphic Design

1. Color: The use of colors to evoke emotions and convey meaning.

2. Typography: The selection and arrangement of fonts to communicate messages.

3. Imagery: The use of images, graphics, and illustrations to support the message.

4. Composition: The arrangement of visual elements to create a balanced and harmonious


design.

Applications of Graphic Design

APPLICATIONS OF GRAPHICS DESIGN

1. Web Design and Development: Graphics software helps in designing website layouts,
icons, and other visual elements.

2. Advertising: Graphic packages are essential for creating eye-catching advertisements, both
for print and digital media.

3. Multimedia Production: Used in the production of multimedia content such as animations,


videos, and interactive presentations.

4. Game Development: Graphics software plays a crucial role in creating game assets,
characters, and environments.

5. Fashion Design: Used for creating digital prototypes, patterns, and visual representations
of fashion designs.

DIGITAL IMAGE FILE FORMATS


A digital image file format is a standardized way of storing digital images on a computer or
other electronic device. The most common digital image file formats include JPEG, PNG,
GIF, TIFF, and SVG.
 JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group): JPEG is a compressed image format
commonly used for web images and digital photography.
 PNG (Portable Network Graphics): PNG is a lossless image format that supports
transparency and is often used in web design.
 GIF (Graphics Interchange Format):GIF is a bitmap image format commonly used for
simple graphics and animated images.
 TIFF (Tagged Image File Format): TIFF is a flexible image format often used in the
printing industry for high-quality printing.
 SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics): SVG is a scalable image format used for web graphics
and interactive designs, allowing images to be scaled without losing quality.

GRAPHICS APPLICATION PACKAGES


Graphic application packages include CorelDraw, Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, etc.

CORELDRAW
CorelDraw is a popular vector graphics editor developed by Corel Corporation, allowing
users to create logos, brochures, flyers, posters, and other visual materials. It is named after
its primary function as a vector-based drawing program.
Terms Definitions
1. Logos: graphic symbols representing a company, organization, or brand.
2. Flyers: single-page promotional materials used to advertise events, products, or services.
3. Brochures: folded informational documents providing details about a product, service, or
organization.
4. Posters: large pictures for walls used for advertising events, movies, or products.
MENUS AND TOOLBOX IN CORELDRAW

MENUS: Menus in CorelDRAW provide access to various functions and commands for
creating and editing designs. These include File, Edit, View, Arrange, Effects, and more.

TOOLBOX: The toolbox in CorelDraw contains various tools for designing and editing
graphics:

 Pick Tool: Used for selecting and manipulating objects on the page.
 Shape Tool:Allows modification of object shapes by manipulating nodes.
 Zoom Tool: Zooms in and out of the document.
 Freehand Tool: Draws freehand lines and shapes.
 Rectangle/Ellipse Tool: Creates rectangles and ellipses.
 Text Tool: Adds and edits text in the document.
 Crop Tool: Crops and trims images and objects.
 Eyedropper Tool: Picks up colors from the document for use in other objects.
