of findings in the context of Library and Information Science.

Assignment Instructions:

1. Choose a Topic

 Choose a topic of personal interest relevant to Library and Information

Science that can be explored through both qualitative and quantitative
methods.

2. Undertake Data Collection:

 Qualitative Data:
Conduct interviews, focus groups, or open-ended surveys to gather
qualitative data. Your qualitative research should aim to explore
people's experiences, opinions, or behaviors related to your research
topic.
 Quantitative Data:
Collect numerical data through structured surveys, observation, or
existing datasets. Quantitative data should aim to measure specific
variables in a structured and measurable way.

Note: Limit the scope and number of respondents to a minimum of at

least 5 and maximum of 20 to enable you finish your work in the time
allocated for the assignment.

3. Undertake Data Analysis:

 Qualitative Analysis:

themes or patterns in the data. Use methods like thematic analysis
or coding to interpret the qualitative data.
 Quantitative Analysis:
Organize and analyze your quantitative data using statistical tools.
This could involve calculating means, frequencies, and using basic
statistical methods applicable

4. Presentation of Findings:

 Qualitative Findings:
Present the key themes or patterns from your qualitative data. Use
direct quotes to support your findings and make the data more
personal and relatable.
 Quantitative Findings:

graphs. Make sure to include explanations for what the data
represents and what the trends suggest.

5. Critical Discussion and Reflection on your Research:

o Discuss the limitations of your data collection methods and the
potential biases that may have influenced your findings.
o Reflect on the strengths and weaknesses of using qualitative and
quantitative methods for your topic.
o Discuss how both qualitative and quantitative approaches
complemented each other in your research for a more comprehensive
understanding of your research problem.

Assignment Deliverables:

1. Compile a Report
The report should include:

i. An introduction to your research topic

ii. A description of your data collection methods for both qualitative and
quantitative research
iii. Analysis of both qualitative and quantitative data
iv. Presentation of findings (with appropriate tables, graphs, and charts)
v. Discussion and reflection on the research process and results
