SET A (Cylinder) 1. Find the height of a cylinder of volume 200 cm3 and radius 4 cm. 2. Find the length of a cylinder of volume 2 liters and radius 10 cm. 3. Find the radius of a cylinder of volume 45 cm3 and length 4 cm. 4. When 3 liters of oil is removed from an upright cylindrical can the level falls by 10 cm. Find the radius of the can. 5. Water flows through a circular pipe of internal diameter 3 cm at a speed of 10 cm/s. If the pipe is full, how much water flows from the pipe in one minute (answer in liters) 6. Water issues from a hose – pipe of internal diameter 1 cm at a rate of 5 liter per minute. At what speed is the water flowing through the pipe? 7. A cylindrical metal pipe has external diameter of 6 cm and internal diameter of 4 cm. Calculate the volume of metal in a pipe of length 1 m. If 1 cm3 of the metal weighs 8g, find the weight of the pipe. 8. Find the height of a solid cylinder of radius 1 cm and total surface area 28 cm2. 9. A solid wooden cylinder of height 8 cm and radius 3 cm is cut in two along a vertical axis of symmetry. Calculate the total surface area of the two pieces. 6. The diagram shows the cross section of an inverted cone of height MC = 12 cm. If AB = 6 cm and XY = 2 cm, use similar triangles to find the length NC 7. An inverted cone of height 15 cm and base radius 4 cm contains water to a depth of 10 cm. Calculate the volume of water in the cone. 8. A frustum is cone with the end chopped off. A bucket in the shape of a frustum as shown has diameter to 10 cm and 4 cm at its ends and depth of 3 cm. Calculate the volume of the bucket. 9. Find the volume (in liters) of a frustum with end diameters of 60 cm and 20 cm and a depth of 40 cm. SET C (Sphere/Hemisphere) 1. Find volume of the following sphere: (a) radius = 5 cm (b) sphere: radius = 10 cm (c) sphere: diameter = 8 cm (d) sphere: radius = 0.1 m 5. Find the volume of a hemisphere of radius 5 cm. 6. A cone is attached to a hemisphere of radius 4 cm. If the total height of the object is 10 cm, find its volume. 7. A toy consists of a cylinder of diameter 6 cm ‘sandwiched’ between a hemisphere and a cone of the same diameter. If the cone is of height 8 cm and the cylinder is height 10 cm, find the total volume of the toy. 8. Find the radius of a sphere of volume 60 cm3 9. A spherical ball is immersed in water contained in a vertical cylinder. Assuming the water covers the ball, calculate the rise in the water level if Sphere radius = 3 cm, cylinder radius = 10 cm 10. Calculate the radius of a hemispherical solid whose total surface area is 48𝜋 cm2 SET D (Cuboid / Cube) 1. Find the volume of a box 10 m long, 8 m wide and 6 m high. 2. The area of the floor of a room is 16m2 and it is 3 m high. Find its volume. 3. A room is 5 m long, 4 m wide and 3 m high. Find its total surface area (floor, ceiling and walls). 4. The volume of a room is 160 m3. The area of its floor is 80 m2. Find its height. 5. Find the difference between a cube of side 2 m and 2 m3. 6. The perimeter of a square room is 48 m. If its height is 5 m, find its volume. 7. A cube has a volume of 216 m3. Find its side. 8. The area if one of the faces of a cube is 196 m2. Find its volume. 9. A box of volume 90 cm3 has a base of area 20 cm2. Find the height of the box. 10. The external dimension of an open box are 8 cm by 5 cm by 4 cm high. Find the volume of wood used in making 1 the box, if the wood is 2 cm thick. SET E (Pyramid) 1. 𝐴𝐵𝐶𝐷 is a tetrahedron. 𝐴𝐵𝐶 is an equilateral triangle of side 4 m and 𝐷𝐴 = 𝐷𝐵 = 𝐷𝐶 = 6 m. 𝐷𝑁 is the perpendicular from 𝐷 to the face 𝐴𝐵𝐶. Find 𝐷𝑁 and the volume of the tetrahedron. 2. A pyramid is on a rectangular base of sides 6 m and 4 m. Each slant edge is 8 m long. Find the height and volume of the pyramid. 3. Calculate the volume of a regular octahedron whose edges are all 10 cm. 4. Find the volume of a regular tetrahedron of side 20 cm. 5. One corner of a solid cube of side 8 cm is removed by cutting through the mid – points of three adjacent sides. Calculate the volume of the pieces removed. 6. Six square- based pyramids fit exactly onto the six faces of a cube of side 4 cm. If the volume of the object formed is 256 cm3, find the height of each of the pyramids. 7. The diagram shows a pyramid with a square base of side 6 cm and a height of 10 cm. Calculate (a) the volume in cm3 of the pyramid A cube has the same volume as the pyramid. Calculate (b) the length in cm to 1 decimal place of one edge of this cube 8. A right pyramid with a square base and a right circular cylinder have the same height of 12 cm and the same volume. The length of a side of the base of the pyramid is 9 cm. Calculate the radius, in cm to 3 significant figures, of the cylinder. 9. The square base ABCD of a right pyramid lies on horizontal ground. The center of the base is M and V is vertically above M. The side DC = 10 cm and VA = VB = VC = VD = 9 cm. Calculate, to 3 significant figures, (a) the height VM, in cm (b) the volume of the pyramid, in cm3. SET F (Prism) 1. Calculate the volume of the prisms. All length is in cm (a) (b) (c)

2. A prism has volume 100 cm3 and lengths 8 cm. If the cross – section is an equilateral triangle, find the length of a side of the triangle. 3. The dimension of a hut is shown in figure. Calculate the volume of the hut and its total surface area, omitting the floor. 4. The cross section of a prism is an equilateral triangle of side 3 m. The length of the prism is 5 m.
