I. INTRODUCTION
The enactment of Republic Act 10121 otherwise known as the Philippine Disaster Risk
Reduction and Management Act of 2010 has laid the basis for a paradigm shift from just
disaster preparedness and response to disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM).The
National DRRM Plan serves as the national guide on how sustainable development can be
achieved through inclusive growth while building the adaptive capacities of communities;
increasing the resilience of vulnerable sectors; and optimizing disaster mitigation opportunities
with the end in view of promoting people’s welfare and security towards gender-responsive and
rights-based sustainable development.
In accordance with the Division Disaster Risk Reduction Management Mitigation Plan
(DDRRMMP), through the School Disaster Risk Reduction Management Mitigation Plan
SDRRMMPP, the school will have “Safer, adaptive and disaster resilient communities towards
sustainable development. “This will be achieved through the four distinct yet mutually
reinforcing priority areas, namely, (a) Disaster Prevention and Mitigation; (b) Disaster
Preparedness; (c) Disaster Response; and (d) Disaster Recovery and Rehabilitation. Each
priority area has its own long-term goal, which when put together will lead to the attainment of
our school over goal/vision in DRRM.
The 4 priority areas are NOT seen as a mere cycle which starts in prevention and mitigation and
ends in rehabilitation and recovery. They... (a) Mutual reinforce each other and are
interoperable. (b) DO NOT, SHOULD NOT and CANNOT stand alone. (c) Have no clear
starting nor ending points between each of the aspects and overlaps are to be expected. (d) Are
problem-needs and asset-strengths centered. (e) All point to one direction reduces people’s
vulnerabilities and increasing their capacities.
In response to DepEd Memo No. 15, s. 2020, Schools Divisions of formed series of activities to
ensure prevention of COVID-19 infection among its stakeholders. These includes:
Continuous practice of COVID -19 preventive measures
In line with the campaigning of the Department of Education (DepEd) in equipping the children
with knowledge, proper attitude and skills on what to do in case of a natural and man-made disasters like
earthquake and fire. Tasica Elementary School conducted its quarterly earthquake and fire drill in the
school campus last September 26, 2021 at exactly 9 o’clock in the morning for earthquake drills and 3
0’clock in the afternoon for fire drills. Ma’am Sherylmia A. Oclos, the school principal led the activity
with the teachers and their respective classes. The drill was carried out simultaneously and smoothly. All
the grade levels occupied the designated area for them based on the school evacuation plan. Before the
conduct of the earthquake and the fire drill, Ma’am Sherylmia instructed all the pupils and teachers and
even parents in attendance after the flag ceremony every Monday of what to do in case of a disaster like an
earthquake.
