In this exercise, you will create a database that includes a table, form, report and queries

Future starts Now Gambia seeks to provide a quality education to each of its students. In order to do this, the
college administration needs an efficient way to keep track of the vast amounts of information associated with
each student served. A college administration has asked you to create and updated a database to help with this
task.

Exam Instructions:

1. Create a New Blank database.


2. Name the Access file as your last name in all lowercase letters.
(For example, Mosquito female would save her file as “mosquitofemaleaccdb”)
(Be sure to make the database before hitting the “Create” button)
3. In Design View, create a table using the structure shown below:
a. Name the table: Diploma Batch 30
b. Set the “student #” field as the Primary Key

4. In Datasheet View, add the data below to the “Student List” table.
Note: for “First Term Attended" the last characters are numbers, not letters. For example. “SP20” is an
abbreviation of “spring 2020” Thus the ‘20’ should both be numbers – not number “2” and letter “I”.

5. Modify the column widths as necessary.


6. Create a form using the From Wizard based on the “Diploma Batch 30” table.
a. Use All Fields
b. Layout: Columnar
c. Form Name: Student Registration Form
d. Insert a background Image on the form
7. In Design View, Change the Theme to “Slice”.

9. When you have finished adding the records, save the form as “student Registration form”.
10. Using the report wizard, create a report based on the “student list” table, according to the following
specifications:
a. Use all fields
b. Group by: First Term Attended
c. Layout: Tabular/ Stepped
d. Orientation: Landscape
e. Title of the report: Student report
f. Adjust column widths in Design View as necessary
g. Insert a picture as the report header.

11. Create Queries:


a. Query 1: Create a query from the “Diploma Batch 30” table using the simple query design.
The basis of the query is as follows.
I. Your supervisor wants to see a report with the names and student numbers, age above 18yrs
and who first attended in the Fall of 2020.
II. Select the appropriate fields and the appropriate criteria. Run this query.

12. Query 2: Create a query from the “Diploma Batch 30” table using the simple query design. The basis of
the query is as follows:
 You need to mail a “Billing Statement” to students who owe the institution more than D18,000
 Run a query to indicate all students whose names contain “A”and “E”.
 Execute a query again to display students whose first name starts with “M”.

13. Save your completed Access file as your last name, mat# number, and shift in all lowercase letters.
(For example, Mr. Jammeh would save His file as “Yorro Jammeh2405896” and kindly checked your
work thoroughly before calling the attention of invigilator.
