Practical no 21

Prepare a business plan for your chosen

small-scale enterprise.

Introduction:

The small-scale industry sector is one of the most

important sectors of the Indian economy. It provides employment
opportunities to a large number of people and contributes
significantly to the country's gross domestic product. The
government of India has been promoting the development of
small-scale industries by providing various incentives and subsidies.
In this business plan, we will discuss the establishment of a small-
scale enterprise in India and its financial viability.

Business Idea:

After careful consideration and market research, we have

decided to establish a small-scale manufacturing unit that produces
eco-friendly disposable cutlery. The demand for eco-friendly
products has been increasing steadily due to growing
environmental concerns. The Indian government has also been
promoting the use of eco-friendly products by imposing a ban on
single-use plastic products. Therefore, the demand for eco-
friendly disposable cutlery is expected to grow in the coming
years.
Business Plan:

Product Description:
Our manufacturing unit will produce eco-friendly
disposable cutlery made from plant-based materials such as corn
starch and sugarcane. Our product range will include spoons,
forks, and knives. Our products will be durable and can be used
for both hot and cold food items.

Market Analysis:
Our target market will be restaurants, cafes, and catering
companies. We will also target households who are
environmentally conscious and prefer eco-friendly products.
According to market research, the demand for eco-friendly
disposable cutlery is expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.2% during
the forecast period 2021-2026.

Production Plan:
Our manufacturing unit will have a capacity to produce
1,00,000 units of eco-friendly disposable cutlery per month. We
will purchase raw materials from local suppliers and use machinery
to manufacture the final products. We will also hire skilled labour
to ensure the production process is efficient and of high quality.

Marketing Plan:
We will initially focus on building a strong online presence
through social media platforms and our website. We will also
participate in trade fairs and exhibitions to showcase our products
to potential customers. We will offer discounts to our initial
customers to gain their loyalty and create word-of-mouth
publicity.
Financial Plan:
Our initial investment will be INR 15 lakhs, which will
cover the cost of machinery, raw materials, and labour. We will
also require working capital of INR 5 lakhs to cover operational
expenses for the first six months. Our projected revenue for the
first year is INR 20 lakhs, with a net profit of INR 4 lakhs. We
expect to break even in the third quarter of the first year of
operations.

Why eco-friendly disposable cutlery?

Eco-friendly disposable cutlery is becoming increasingly
popular due to growing environmental concerns. Traditional
disposable cutlery made from plastic is harmful to the
environment as it takes hundreds of years to decompose and can
cause pollution in oceans and landfills.

On the other hand, eco-friendly disposable cutlery is made

from biodegradable materials such as corn starch, sugarcane, or
bamboo, which can decompose naturally and do not harm the
environment. Moreover, these materials are renewable and
sustainable, making them an excellent choice for those who are
environmentally conscious.

In addition to environmental benefits, eco-friendly

disposable cutlery also has health benefits. Unlike plastic cutlery,
it does not contain harmful chemicals such as Bisphenol A (BPA),
which can leach into food and cause health problems.

Therefore, eco-friendly disposable cutlery is an excellent

choice for those who want to reduce their environmental
footprint and promote sustainable living while also enjoying the
convenience of disposable cutlery.
Eco-friendly disposable cutlery in India :

Eco-friendly disposable cutlery is gaining popularity in India

due to growing environmental concerns and government
regulations banning single-use plastic products. The Indian
government has imposed a ban on single-use plastic products such
as cutlery, plates, and cups in many states to reduce plastic waste
and promote the use of eco-friendly products.

This has led to an increase in demand for eco-friendly

disposable cutlery in India. Many companies have started
producing eco-friendly cutlery made from plant-based materials
such as corn starch, sugarcane, and bamboo.

Moreover, eco-friendly disposable cutlery is also cost-

effective compared to traditional plastic cutlery. While the initial
cost of production may be higher, eco-friendly cutlery is
biodegradable, which means it decomposes naturally and does not
harm the environment. In the long run, eco-friendly cutlery is
more cost-effective as it reduces the need for expensive waste
management systems.

In addition to environmental benefits, eco-friendly

disposable cutlery also has health benefits as it does not contain
harmful chemicals such as Bisphenol A (BPA), which can leach into
food and cause health problems.

Therefore, the establishment of a small-scale enterprise

that produces eco-friendly disposable cutlery in India is a financially
viable business idea that promotes sustainable living and
contributes to the growth of the Indian economy.
