How can contemporary human resource management processes, strategies in

human resource management, legal considerations and diversity management,


and job design and analysis be applied in a healthcare unit to create a positive
working environment that promotes employee engagement and retention, while
also ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements?

Contemporary HRM Processes


Human Resource Management plays a revenue-generating role in 21st-century
organizations by ensuring that the right people are employed in the right positions with
the correct abilities, hence increasing organizational productivity can be made better. In
a healthcare setting, the HR managers need to know all major employment laws of
every medical practioners like doctors, dentists and nurses. HR managers know how to
control labor cost legally and ethically. Healthcare professionals must have their salary
based on their own skills and knowledge like doctors and nurses have different levels of
skills for their own profession. Managers need to motivate their employees to improve
performance. While working in the healthcare setting, many healthcare professionals
needed motivation because many patients in this setting are in the poor side due to the
free services to be done like free consultations, blood lab tests, dental services and
medicines. Many patients in healthcare units are not always satisfied and not
comprehensive even all the services are free. That's why managers gives appraisal and
promotions on the professionals who have maintained proper skills and improve some
others while taking care the health of their unsatisfied patients. Managers need to
organize a training for every medical professionals. For instance in the dental section,
the head organize a program for all newly employed dentist and dental assistants to
train them for the methods and skills to have for the public health system. Managers
must prioritize the safety and security of the healthcare units. Therefore, managers have
security forces that protect the professionals working in healthcare units. Along with
providing the necessary resources, employers must also build trust, listen and act, and
treat medical professionals with dignity and as unique persons. As healthcare units
increasingly need to become flexible to manage new technologies and shifting
organizational structures, employers must also maintain employee engagement to
assist them better adapt to change.

Strategies in Human Resource Management


In healthcare setting, cost leadership might be the strategy used. The healthcare
units provide services that keep the cost or maintaining it free of cost for the patients
that will receive maximum efficiency and effectiveness of the services. Medical
professionals are doing the same thing of their jobs. While doing the job always the
same might lead to boredom or resignation of the professionals so managers make
programs for every month to have every professionals might engage to their skills like
on February the Oral Health Month, August the TB Month, Pink October the Breast
Cancer Awareness Month, and many more.

Legal Considerations
Healthcare HR must be ahead when evolving the state and federal regulations.
Automated compliance systems can establish changes, reduce legal risks and
administrative burdens. Managers must have a clear communicated and legal HR
policies that help prevent lawsuits and demonstrate to staff that their rights are
prioritized, fostering trust and stability.

Diversity Management
Discrimination is the biggest problem in every organization likely in healthcare
setting. To avoid discrimination in religion, the hr managers allows every holidays for all
religios like Holy Week or Eid al-Fitr. HR managers must never require professionals to
do certain jobs that might violate their personal religious beliefs. To avoid discrimination
on gender and sexual orientation, like in Taguig City Health Office, they make a
program every month to promote Gender Sensitivity and Mental Health. Wherein they're
teaching employees to protect every gender even if they're part of LGBTQIA
community. Managers must have hotlines where staff and employees can report sexual
discrimination and punished discrminators appropriately.

Job Design and Analysis


Managers need to update job designs to incorporate technology and team-based
care models that can optimize efficiency and job satisfaction, especially as healthcare
units can become more geographically dispersed. Managers can use SWOT analysis to
ensures roles are clearly defined. Also, it makes workloads manageable, which is
crucial in high-pressure healthcare settings. This will reduce ambiguity, prevents
burnout, and supports engagement.
