Heck Man 2010

This paper analyzes the impact of prayer on God's attitude towards humanity using data from the National Opinion Research Center's survey. The findings suggest that minimal prayer may be ineffective or detrimental, while significant prayer has a positive effect. The methodology employed allows for the estimation of relationships between unobserved variables in various fields, including economics.

THE EFFECT OF PRAYER ON GOD’S ATTITUDE TOWARD MANKIND

JAMES HECKMAN*

This paper uses data available from the National Opinion Research Center’s
(NORC) survey on religious attitudes and powerful statistical methods to
evaluate the effect of prayer on the attitude of God toward human beings. (JEL
