Transition Activity

Activity 1 - Scratch Programming

You are to build a simple game of PacMan in Scratch

You will create:

 a simple maze
 create a pacman sprite that can move up, down, left and right using the
arrow keys on your keyboard
 create 5 cherry sprites and one banana sprite
 If your pacman touches the wall of the maze it will bounce backwards
 If your pacman touches the cherry sprite, the sprite will disappear and your
score will go up by 10
 If your pacman touches the banana sprite your score will go up by 50
 If your score reaches 100 your game will display ‘game over’

As evidence you will include:

A word document containing screenshots of your game working

A word document containing screenshots of your scratch code. We also require that
you document your code so that you can tell us how it works.

Activity 2 – Simple PowerPoint Skills

You will be required to create a simple animated PowerPoint showing how to use
Scratch as a help guide. Your PowerPoint will be aimed as a teaching resource for
Year 8 students. You will be required to provide:

 A four slide PowerPoint showing how to create sprites in Scratch


 The PowerPoint will clearly show how to drag and drop code blocks into the
code editor
 The PowerPoint will clearly show how to move the pacman sprite
 You will need to provide evidence of animations within slides to show how to
drag and drop code blocks in scratch
 You will provide evidence of transitioning between slides
 You will use a consistent look and feel that you will create yourself and you will
not use any of the inbuilt themes in PowerPoint
