365 - Interconnecting Multiple LANs Using Routers in Cisco Packet Tracer
Objective:
To simulate a multi-network environment using routers, switches, and PCs/Laptops in Cisco
Packet Tracer, enabling communication between different LANs.
Setup of Experiment:
The experiment consists of three different LANs, each connected to a dedicated router:
LAN 2 (Middle)
Router1 has two serial interfaces: Se2/0 connects to Router0, Se3/0 connects to
Router2
LAN 3 (Right Side)
Working Procedure:
• Device Placement:
• Wiring:
• IP Configuration:
Assign IP addresses and subnet masks to all end devices and router interfaces based on
their respective network.
• Routing Configuration:
Configure static or dynamic routing (e.g., RIP, OSPF) on all routers to enable
communication between LANs and Ensure routing tables are updated and accurate.
• Testing:
Use the ping command from each PC/laptop to test connectivity across the network
Step by Step Working Procedure:
Ping : PC 0 to PC1
Result:
PC1 to PC2 (same LAN): Ping Successful
Output/Topology:
Discussion:
The network setup demonstrates successful inter-LAN communication, confirming correct
routing and cabling. Most devices communicated as expected, except for PC0 to Laptop1. This
failure may be due to incorrect IP settings, a missing route, or a blocked ICMP request. It
highlights the importance of proper configuration and testing in network design.
Conclusion:
The experiment effectively simulates connecting multiple LANs using routers. While most
connections worked, one failed ping emphasizes the need for accurate setup and troubleshooting.
Overall, the lab reinforces key networking concepts and practical skills in configuring and
verifying network communication.
