between A and B. Calculate the net electrostatic force on C. [CBSE OD 03]
6. Two identical charges, Q each, are kept at a distance r from each other. A third charges q is placed on

magnitude, sign and position of the charge q? [CBSE OD 98]
7. Two point charges of charge values Q and q are placed at distance x and x/2 respectively from a third
charge of charge value 4q, all charges being in the same straight line. Calculate the magnitude and
nature of charge Q such that the net force experienced by the charge q is zero. [CBSE D 98]
8. Consider the charges q, q and -q placed at the
vertices of an equilateral triangle, as shown in
figure. What is the force on each charge?
[NCERT]

9. Three-point charges of +2 𝜇𝐶, −3𝜇𝐶 and

−3𝜇𝐶 are kept at the vertices A, B and C
respectively of an equilateral triangle of side 20
cm as shown in the figure. What should be the
sign and magnitude of the charge to be placed
at the midpoint (M) of side BC so that the charge
at A remains in equilibrium? [CBSE D 05]
10. Consider three charges 𝑞1 , 𝑞2 , 𝑞3 each equal to q at the vertices of an equilateral of slide 𝑙. What is the
force on a charge Q (with the same sign as 𝑞) placed at the centroid of the triangle? [NCERT]
11. Three point charges +q each are kept at the vertices of an equilateral triangle of side ‘𝑙’. Determine the
magnitude and sign of the charge to be kept at its centroid so that the charges at the vertices remain in
equilibrium. [CBSE F 2015]

1.6 × 10−19 𝐶 respectively. [CBSE D 91]
13. An electron falls through a distance of 1.5 cm in a uniform electric field of magnitude 2 × 104 𝑁𝐶 −1 as
shown in the figure. The direction of the field is reversed keeping its magnitude unchanged and a
proton falls though the same distance as shown in the right hand side figure. Compute the time of fall
in each case. Contrast the situation (a) with that of free fall under gravity.
14. A charged particle, of charge 2 𝜇𝐶 and mass 10 milligram, moving with a velocity of 1000 m/s enters a

velocity and displacement, of the particle after 10 s. [CBSE SP 11]
15. Two point charges of +1𝜇𝐶 and +4𝜇𝐶 are kept 30 cm apart. How far from the +1𝜇𝐶 charge on the
line joining the two charges, will the net electric field be zero. [CBSE OD 20]
