SmartArt
Graphics”
SmartArt Graphic
-is a feature in Microsoft Word that is used
to make a visual presentation of information
using various types of diagrams such as
process, cycle and hierarchy. It is also used to
create complex graphs like Venn Diagrams and
organization charts. The SmartArt button is
located in the Insert tab under the illustration
group
SmartArt Graphic

Process SmartArt Objects
are used to show sequential steps in a task ,
process, or workflow. It is also used to
emphasize movement or direction and depict a
plan or result. Here are types of SmartArt
graphics available in the Process type
Creating a Process SmartArt Graphic
1. Open Microsoft Word
2. Click the Insert tab. Select the SmartArt button in the
illustrations group.
3. Select Process type to display the SmartArt objects under it.
4. Click the Basic Bending Process object. Click OK
5. The SmartArt object will be automatically inserted in the
document.
6. Type the five(5) steps to proper handwashing in each object.
7. Click anywhere in the SmartArt object to show the SmartArt tools tab. The SmartArt
tab consists of
Design and Format tabs that are used to customize the objects.
8. Click the Design tab.Select Change Colors in the SmartArt Styles group. Click the
Colorful section.
9. Click the Format tab to enhance SmartArt objects.
Cycle SmartArt Objects
-are used to show step-by-step information , tasks,
or events in a circular flow that is usually repetitive. It
is also used to emphasize the relationship to a central
idea, continuous cycle, events that can happen in any
direction and any direction, and interlocking ideas.
Creating a Cycle SmartArt Graphics
1. Open Microsoft Word
2. Click the Insert tab. Select the SmartArt button in the illustrations
group.
3. Select Cycle type to display the Smartart objects under it.
4. Click the Basic Cycle object. Click OK
5. The SmartArt object will be automatically inserted in the document.
6. Type “Reduce”, “Reuse”, and “Recycle” in each object.
7. Click anywhere in the SmartArt object to show the Smartart tools tab.
The SmartArt Tools tab consists of Design and Format tabs that are used
to customize the objects.
8. Click the Design tab. Select Change Colors in the SmartArt Styles
group.
Click the colorful section.
9. Click on the Format tab to enhance SmartArt objects.
Hierarchy SmartArt Objects
-are used to show structures or level organization
vertically from top to bottom. It can also horizontally
from left to right. It can be used to depict the
organizational structure of a school or company.
Create a Hierarchy SmartArt Graphics
1. Open Microsoft Word
2. Click the Insert tab. Select the SmartArt button in the illustration
group.
3. Select Hierarchy type to display the SmartArt objects under it.
4. Click the Organization chart , Chart object. Click OK.
5. The SmartArt object will be automatically inserted in the
document.
6. Type the organizational chart of a city.
7. Click anywhere in the SmartArt object to show the Smartart tools tab. The
SmartArt Tools tab consists
of Design and Format tabs that are used to customize the objects.
8. Click the Design tab. Select Change Colors in the SmartArt Styles group. Click
the colorful section.
