As a student, familiarizing all types of claims makes me figure out the real context of a paragraph or even a
sentence. It makes me look at it more and helps me analyse the whole idea of figures of text that delivers a certain
message. Having to know types of claims make it easier for me to decode encountered speeches in my daily life
because as now I have learned that each claim has its purpose depending on the perception of our general
knowledge.
V. EVALUATION
Directions: Read the paragraph below from the article PH education and the new normal by Ching Jorge then
write an essay containing your opinion about the topic/ issue discussed in it. There must be ten (10) claims in and all
the three types are manifested. Your essay may be composed of 20-30 sentences. Please use a separate sheet for
this activity. Be guided by the rubric provided below.
Education’s new normal will not just be about operating in an environment that secures the health of
students; nor will it be about completely transitioning to online modalities. Instead, it should be about using
technology to increase efficiency in areas with the capacity to do so, while empowering learners and
communities to create positive learning environments in which the student can grow. It should not sacrifice
quality but continue to provide equal opportunities, most especially to the marginalized and vulnerable
sectors. It is not a one-size-fits-all solution, but one that is dependent on the needs of each learning
community.

all.
Education, in a matter of fact, is essential to every person and learners who are willing to learn.
Though, as the pandemic shifts, it seems like the quality of education is being bent and adjusted in all angles to
fit the situation of every other students. I strongly agree with the essay’s point. With that being said, strengthening
of technologies in aspects for a child’s growth should be granted to all potential learners. And when it
mentioned learners it meant all—especially those who struggle with slow connections nor electricity to provide. Since
every modality, mixed, online or blended, are decided on the line, it highlights the importance of modernization in
technology. It tells that technology is utmost needed more than any other solutions that are presented. Yes, it
is not a one-size-fit-all solution therefore it depends on the needs of each learning community. The essay emphasized
marginalized and vulnerable sectors while still giving equally qualified education which is outstandingly right. The
education’s new normal must be accessible to all students, none being left out. Another thing is that, using the
current pandemic to belittle those not privileged and even have opportunities to punish students without
looking at the current situation are acts of dehumanization. It should not be tolerated especially in the midst
of these struggles. Sooner or later though, if the complete modernization of technology is implemented, it will
bring positive results in its efficacy throughout a learner’s development. The successfulness of operations
such as providing efficient workplace for students invites learners to a more positive aura of education even
outside the premises of a school. It’s quite amusing how the government thought of still continuing quality education
amidst the pandemic. It’s like a two-in-one sword wherein they have secured the health of learners while gradually
proceeding to let them grow mentally. They created an alternative to help ourselves be busy with materials that can
help in our future. Who knows maybe inside our textbooks or laptops would we find the answer to end the deadly
pandemic. It’s a very bright move to include education in the fight for Covi19. And now, skipping schools will not be
acceptable because the government aids to continue education for all of us to seek the solution together.
