TEST ASSIGNMENT -7

Q -1 N drops of mercury of equal radii and possessing equal charges combine to form a
big drop. Compare the charge, capacitance and potential of bigger drop with the
corresponding quantities of individual drops. (N, N1/3, N2/3)

Q -2 A capacitor of unknown capacitance is connected across a battery of V volts. The

charge stored in it is 360 pC. When potential across the capacitor is reduced by 120 V
the charge stored in it becomes 120 pC.
Calculate: (i) The potential V and the unknown capacitance C.
(ii) What will be the charge stored in the capacitor, if the voltage applied had increased
by 120 V ? (180 V, 2µF, 600µC)

Q-3 Find the charge supplied by the battery in the arrangement shown in figure
(110µC)

Q -4 Find the charge on the capacitor as shown in the circuit (Foreign 2014) (4µC)

Q-5 Four capacitors C1=1uF, C2=2uF, C3=3uF, C4=4uF are connected to a 12V battery
as shown in the figure . Find a) the capacitance between the points A and B b) the total
charge in the circuit c) the charge on each capacitor, and d) the potential on each
capacitor(2.38 µF ,9.34μC ,9.34μC, 23.94μC , 23.94 μC , 9.34V ,4.67V, 7.98V, 5.99V)
