MEE 303: System dynamics and control

Answers to questions:

1) System: It is a combination of components acting together to perform a

specific objective.
Example: closed system, open system and isolated system.

2) Dynamics: It is a group of components that move together to achieve a

setting result.
Example: kinematics energy, kinetics energy, mechanical energy.
3) Dynamic system: It is a system with a memory that vary with time.
4) Component: a single functioning unit of a system.
5) type of dynamics system or Example: Car, Turbine, Generator.
6) Mathematical model: It is a sets of equations that describe characteristic of
a system.

7) Procedures to follow in mathematical modelling:

- Draw a schematic diagram of the system.
- Define variables.
- Using physical laws, write equations for each component, combine them according
to the system diagram, and obtain a mathematical model.

- Determine what you need to know.

-Determine what you already know.

-Determine the physical principles that govern the model you want treat.
-Look what the other have done.

8) Stating of the functionality of system:

-Receive
-Analyse
-Treat equation and
-Give result

Analysis of a dynamic system: It is the investigation, under specified conditions, of

the performance of a system whose mathematical model is known.

9) After Analysis the next thing to do is Design the system.

Design: It is the process of conceiving or inventing the forms, parts, and details of
a system to achieve a specified purpose.
