Lay summary (1 page, single or double spaced)

Purpose: Provide a brief summary of the primary research study in language suitable for the
general public (educated non-expert). Gain experience in communicating primary research
results to a broad audience.
Due: Friday Feb 3, 11:59 PM

Details:
 No more than 1 page (single or double spaced)
 Normal margins, size 12 Times New Roman font
 Papers can be submitted on eClass in PDF or DOC/DOCX format (PDF preferred)
 No need to include APA citations unless you reference papers other than the research
article you are summarizing.
 Please include a copy (not citation) of your news article and the original research article
with the Lay Summary

Grade deductions:
 Over page limit
 Lack of cohesive narrative
 Overuse of technical language
 Use of quotations (NO Quotes in science!)
 Inappropriate article selection
 Copy of both articles not submitted (Screen shot of news article okay)
 Late submissions
 Plagiarism = 0
