ASIGNMENT NO 1 (ONE): CEMENT STORAGE AND HANDLING

GUIDELINE SPECIFICATIONS ON A REINFOERCED CONCRETE


PARKING FLOORS OF ABOUT 1500M2 OF THREE LEVELS
PROJECT.
CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS 1 (ECCOM IA) (2020).
From the following hypothetical case study in which you imagine
that after your graduation from VUT and after a short while you are
hired as a site engineer of reinforced concrete structure project
work in the Gauteng Province of South Africa.
As a site engineer your duties will include offering advice in the
planning and supervision of the reinforced concrete work project in
which a construction contractor is constructing a three level
reinforced concrete vehicle parking floors of approximately 1500m2
in total. Part of your responsibility is to ensure that this project
results in quality construction of the structure.
As a requirement of the project, the civil/structural engineer has
recommended that the construction contractor uses quality cement
on this project development design of a 1500 m2 three storey
parking floor levels.
Part of your responsibility is to offer a written requirement/advice
or detailed guide line instructions to the contractor on the storage
and handling of cement in 50kg bags on this construction site to
ensure that the structure will be built structurally well and
according to the engineering specifications.
This assignment requires you to write a handling and storage
guidelines specification of cement on the above project
construction site to ensure quality work is achieved. This
assignment requires you to focus on the storage and handling of
the 50 kg cement bags on parking lot constriction project site in
Gauteng.
In writing your storage and handling guideline specification for
cement, you may make and state any reasonable assumptions and
limitations you may have to take into account in the provision of
your solutions.

Write an engineering professional cement storage and handling
guideline specifications to the contractor on the engineering
considerations, knowledge areas, of cement as a construction
material 1 so that a safe, quality, environmentally friendly, valuable
and materials wastage minimised in order to a sustainable
structure for the client.
Your specification guideline document should be neat, with a table
of contents, well structured, word processed, well bound, well
referenced, without plagiarism, contain good English, not to exceed
10 pages, font 12 Arial, and 1. 5 spacing (100 marks). This
assignment is to be handed in earlier or latest by Wednesday the
04/03/2020 without fail.
