(Column and Null spaces and Dimension theorem)
1. If A is a 12500×20000 matrix with rank 12000, obtain (i) Nullity of A (ii) Nullity of AT.
2. What is the rank and nullity of
(a) a non-zero, 2×2 singular matrix?
(b) A 7×9 matrix with rank 4.
(c) A 3×2 matrix with two linearly independent rows.
(d) An m×n matrix with all entries as one.
3. For the following matrices,
(i) Obtain a basis for the null space of A.
(ii) Obtain a basis for the column space of A.
(iii) Obtain a basis for the row space of A.
(iv) Obtain the rank and nullity.

1. The row vectors of an n×n invertible matrix A form a basis for Rn.
2. The sum of dimensions of left null space of A and column space of A is equal to the number of
columns in A.
3. If an n×n matrix A is invertible, then the nullity of A is zero.
