INTRODUCTION
Surveillance is major thing when we are going to secure anything as it is tedious job peoples are
getting boarded because of that it will might risky to observing all these things we are going to
make a robot which is continuously monitor thing. This robot continuously watches and sending
a live streaming of it to an authorized person. Because of that monitoring the work will be
somewhat easy and it will be made accurate because of technology. The implementation of this
project to resolve the problem of replacing human to surveillance robot, because of this we
reduce harm of human resource. Robot are usually miniature in size so they are enough capable
to enter in tunnels, mines and small holes in building and also have capability to survive in harsh
and difficult climatic conditions for life long time without causing any harm. Military robots
were designed from last few decades. Nowadays, most of the system uses a mobile robot with a
camera for surveillance. The camera mounted on the robot can move to different locations. These
types of robots are more flexible than the fixed cameras. In it is given that mostly used
surveillance robots are wheel robot. The wheel-based robots are more suitable for flat platform.
With the development in wireless communication and internet, the videos captured by wheel
robot can be seen remotely on computer or laptop.

BACKGROUND

Military operations frequently take place in hostile and high-risk environments, such as
battlefields, enemy territories, and disaster zones. In these situations, gathering intelligence and
conducting surveillance is essential for making strategic decisions. Human soldiers can only
monitor specific areas at a time, whereas threats can be widespread. Night surveillance or
operations in extreme weather conditions can be challenging for human personnel. Traditional
reconnaissance requires large teams of soldiers, expensive equipment, and extensive logistical
support. Manual data collection is time-consuming, and real-time intelligence is often
difficult to obtain. Human soldiers can only monitor specific areas at a time, whereas threats can
be widespread.
APPLICATIONS AND FEATURES OF THE PROJECT

 Remote surveillance in military areas: The project enables military personnel to monitor
areas remotely, reducing the need for direct human presence in dangerous zones. This can
help in reconnaissance, border security, and intelligence gathering.
 Real-time video streaming via WiFi: The system allows live video transmission over a
WiFi network, ensuring immediate access to surveillance footage. This can help in quick
decision-making and situational awareness.
 Autonomous and manual control for reconnaissance missions: The robot can operate
autonomously using programmed navigation or can be manually controlled for specific
tasks. This flexibility makes it useful for missions requiring adaptability, such as scouting
unknown territories.
 Night vision and motion detection for enhanced security: Equipped with night vision, the
system can function effectively in low-light or no-light environments. Motion detection
enhances security by alerting users to any movement in restricted or sensitive areas.

OBJECTIVE

 To develop an IoT-based surveillance robot for military applications.


 To provide real-time video monitoring for reconnaissance.
 To enhance security by integrating motion detection and night vision.
 To reduce human risk in surveillance operations.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

The traditional methods of monitoring military zones, such as using soldiers or manually
operated surveillance systems, require significant manpower, financial resources, and time.
Additionally, these methods expose personnel to dangerous environments, including enemy
attacks, harsh weather, and hazardous terrains. Soldiers wouldn't have to be physically present in
dangerous locations, reducing casualties and injuries.

RESEARCH GAPS

 Small-scale deployments, remote locations, or budget-constrained operations.


 Low-cost, efficient, and easily deployable robotic surveillance system.
 Minimal infrastructure requirements, making it suitable for various environments.
 Uses IoT connectivity for real-time monitoring and control.

HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

Hardware requirements:

 Microcontroller (ESP32 or Raspberry Pi)


 WiFi Module
 Camera Module (e.g., Raspberry Pi Camera, ESP32-CAM)
 Motors and Motor Driver
 Ultrasonic Sensors for obstacle detection
 Temperature and Humidity Sensors
 Battery and Power Management Circuit
 Chassis and Wheels

Software Requirements:

 Embedded C/Python for microcontroller programming


 IoT Cloud Integration (MQTT, Firebase, or AWS IoT)
 Web/App interface for remote control
 Computer Vision for object detection (optional)

METHODOLOGY

The system consists of a WiFi-enabled robotic unit equipped with a camera and sensors. The
robot can be controlled remotely via a web-based interface or mobile application. The camera
transmits real-time footage, and additional sensors provide environmental data. The system
integrates with cloud storage for data retention and analysis.

i. Power Supply
The system is powered by a battery (such as a Li-ion battery pack), providing energy to
all electronic components. A voltage regulator circuit ensures that the correct voltage
levels are supplied to various modules.
ii. Microcontroller / Processor
The ESP8266 / ESP32 / Raspberry Pi acts as the brain of the robot. It processes
commands received via WiFi communication and controls different actuators and sensors.
iii. WiFi Module
The ESP8266 / ESP32 or an external WiFi module enables wireless connectivity. The
robot can be controlled remotely via a mobile app or web-based interface.
iv. Camera Module
A wireless camera (IP Camera or ESP32-CAM) is mounted on the robot. It captures real-
time video footage and streams it to the remote user.
v. Motor Driver & Motors
A motor driver IC (L298N / L293D) is used to control DC motors for movement.
The robot moves forward, backward, left, and right based on the user's commands.
vi. Sensors for Detection
IR Sensors or Ultrasonic Sensors for obstacle detection. PIR Sensor for motion detection
in restricted areas. Gas / Temperature Sensors for environmental monitoring.
vii. Remote Control & Monitoring
The robot is controlled using a mobile app or a web-based interface via WiFi. The user
can monitor the real-time video feed and control movement using a joystick interface.
Cloud Storage & Data Analysis The captured video feed and sensor data can be stored on
cloud servers. AI-based analytics can be integrated for threat detection and
pattern analysis.

Conclusion

The WiFi Detective Robot is an advanced military surveillance solution that leverages IoT
technology and real-time video streaming to enhance security while minimizing human risk.
Designed for deployment in high-risk areas, this robotic system provides secure and efficient
monitoring, reducing the need for human personnel in dangerous environments. By utilizing IoT
connectivity, it ensures seamless data transmission and allows remote access to live video feeds,
improving situational awareness and enabling instant decision-making.

Future scope

This project has significant potential for advancements, particularly in AI-based threat detection,
autonomous navigation, and multi-robot coordination. By integrating AI and machine learning,
the robot could autonomously identify threats using facial recognition, motion detection, and
object identification. Future versions may also feature AI-driven path planning, GPS, and
LiDAR-based guidance for fully autonomous patrolling. Additionally, multiple robots could
operate in a swarm network, using IoT communication to share data and coordinate surveillance
missions. These enhancements would greatly improve efficiency, security, and operational
effectiveness.
